In this tense thriller, Christian Gillette is approached by a shadowy group representing vast wealth and vague motives. They're a politically conservative alliance interested in a partnership with Gillette's company, Everest Capital. Then he's contacted by a charismatic liberal politician named Jesse Wood, who is about to announce his candidacy for president; Wood and his advisors want Gillette to run for vice president. Skeptical of both offers, Gillette tries to discern who can be trusted. But he soon realizes a colleague has ties to one party...and ultimately, he can't trust anybody at all.

Critic Reviews

"Holter Graham's use of a wide range of voices and emotions can't help but draw listeners in from the very first words. There's a sense of doom and foreboding, of expectation and terror as we try to distinguish the heroes from the villains, with the true motivations of all not revealed until the end." (AudioFile)

not great

A little over the top with the black power characters. Also the same regarding the white male conspiracy pulling all the strings. Many of the names get confusing as the author uses both first and last names back and forth so one forgets who is who.

Entertaining

I enjoyed listening to this story, though it has so many characters and took really long to connect them. I'm looking forward to the next book, the successor to see where it goes from here.

As for the narrator, he was good, but sometimes he didn't give proper distinction to the characters, so they sounded similar to other characters.
Overall, great story!
