Worst book I've read this year

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

If the writing was more realistic, or if I even could figure out or CARE what the characters were doing next.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Elisabeth Rodgers?

The narrator did as good a job as could be expected with such crappy material.

What character would you cut from The Perfect Witness?

All of them. Especially the main two characters, Allie and Mendac. Ugh!

Any additional comments?

I normally love Iris Johansen, but she was off her game on this book. It truly sucked. I honestly can not find one redeeming quality to this book, sorry.

i paid for it so by gum, i listened to the whole thing

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

A better, less predictable plot. Characters with depth-not the stereotypical ones in this s t ory. A reader who didn't do the fake lower voice for the guy would have been nice. Also, it starts with a grown man and a 16 yr old girl with sexual overtones-creeeepy

What do you think your next listen will be?

Not a Johansen book

How could the performance have been better?

Someone who could give a male inflection without the lower voice deal

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

They didn't kill the tiger??

Any additional comments?

She sure got over the mind reading thing. It w a s almost like she didn't have a power after all. Kind of confusing

Nothing much to it

No surprises, boring even.
Had good potential though, something's missing there, as if it's still raw, a draft.

Good opening and ending - rest predictable

Would you try another book written by Iris Johansen or narrated by Elisabeth Rodgers?

Probably not by the author. It was a bit long winded and self indulgent.

Has The Perfect Witness put you off other books in this genre?

No, but it was like a poor man's version of x-men.

Did Elisabeth Rodgers do a good job differentiating each of the characters? How?

Yes. I found the main character irritating, but I don't think that was her the reader's fault.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from The Perfect Witness?

Most of the middle.
