Shocking narration

Tried enjoying this book but the Narrator actually whispered so low you couldn't hear what was going on and switch to yeling.
Instead of doing it in a normal voice and say "he whispered" or "he shouted" the narrator actually did it blasting my eardrums one minute and having to turn the volume up next. Do not try and listen if you want to sleep haha.

Had me on the edge of my seat

I really enjoyed this book. I’ve listened to over two a week recently and haven’t been slight captivated but this story and it’s characters really had me absorbed. I would have like to hear about some of the characters at the end as it’s going to eat me up!

A modern day classic

I was awe struck by the scope and ambition of this book. The characters are nuanced and masterfully developed. The plot line draws you in and keeps you enthralled until the final page. Normally I read books back to back. But this one I’ll have to sit with a while.

Grating American accents

I usually check the readers voice before I buy, but in this case the title was for a book club. When read in her normal voice, not bad, but the vocalisation and acting was not good throughout. Too much swapping between time and place. Pentecostal church references were interesting and horrible if true. Most of the characters were believable except for the above mentioned American accents and the narrator s voice while being a male. Will make sure I don’t get this narrator again.

Didn’t work it out until the end

What a great story, was recommended this by a friend and it twisted and turned but it wasn’t until the very end that all is revealed
It’s about a 2 year old who disappeared and is she or isn’t she the now grown up woman and if so how did it happen
Highly recommend

FABULOUS STORY

A marvellous listen. I loved the way each alternative chapter flipped from the present to the past. Very well paced with believable and interesting characters. Stef Smith did a great job narrating it. Loved it and thoroughly recommend it.
