Good thriller with a likable main character

Vincent Zandri's "The Guilty" is a pretty good thriller starring the enigmatic Jake Marconi, and is one of a series of books featuring PI Jack Marconi as the main character. You can read what the story is about from the book description. I'll have to say that this was a good, solid story. There were a few parts where things seemed to drag on a little here and there, but then I'd find myself caught right back up in the story again. I'd have to say that having listened to quite a few of Mr. Zandri's books in the past, you can really tell that he continues to hone his craft as time goes on and keeps on writing books that are getting better and better.

Andrew Wehrlen did another solid job with the narration. He's narrated other books by Mr. Zandri, including the Chase Baker series, and I'm always more than happy to listen to anything that he's narrated. He has the perfect tone for a male lead that's kind of a badass and a bit cocky. A few people complained about the narration for the females. I personally wasn't bothered by it, but I would recommend listening to some audio samples of his work here on audible if this is a concern to you.

I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator, or publisher for an honest review.

Almost okay ...

Would you try another book from Vincent Zandri and/or Andrew B. Wehrlen?

I've listened to a lot from both. My expectations from my previous experiences weren't met by either in this book, but I would still listen to others by them.

Has The Guilty turned you off from other books in this genre?

I'm less interested in this series by the author.

What do you think the narrator could have done better?

Mr Werhlen usually does an incredible job with voice distinctions. This was not one of his best narrations. But perhaps he shouldn't give his all to a book that was flailing. You know, sometimes you can only work with what you've got. Can't turn everything into gold.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

The book description had a promising mystery. It just didn't quite meet the hype.
