Publisher's summary

When Danielle Boatman inherits Marlow House, she dreams of turning it into a seaside bed and breakfast. Since she's never visited the property, Danielle's not sure what awaits her in Oregon. She certainly doesn't expect to find one of the house's previous owners still in residence. After all, the man has been dead for almost 90 years - shouldn't he have moved on by now?

Charming Walt Marlow convinces Danielle the only way he can move on is if she solves the mystery of his death. Danielle soon discovers her real problems may come from the living - those who have their sights on Marlow House's other secrets.

Felt Dumbed Down

This is a fun, if not unique, premise and venue. It could have sparkled, but it really lacks wit and *everything* is explained, just in case we aren't especially intuitive (or paying attention). My favorite thing was the Walt-Sadie connection. I wish there had been more of that.

I'm about 3/4 through it and am pretty sure I know where that thing that everybody's looking for is. In fact, I'm very sure.

This is the kind of book that is okay and could have been made better by the narrator.
Could have, but wasn't.
I think Romy Nordlinger has a nice voice, but it felt a lot like she was reading this book to a group of 7 year olds.

It's certainly not a terrible audiobook, but unless something extraordinary happens soon, I won't continue with the series. I'm giving it a horizontal thumb.

Loved it

This was a very good story. The characters were engaging and were portrayed in a realistic fashion. The plot was developed with enough twists and turns to keep the readers interested and involved in the story. I enjoyed the way Danielle and Walt interacted with each other. I look forward to seeing how their relationship develops in future books.

Wow! This Was Just What I Needed!

What did you love best about The Ghost of Marlow House?

This book was in my Audible recommendations, and since I've been on a Haunted House kick this summer, and wanted something with a little more story length, I went for it. Thank you advertising. What a gem! I did not expect to be swept away like this. Great humor. Fantastic setting. Different take on the ghost idea--well, I guess Casper did it, but Casper was no where near as charming and witty as Walt Marlow! I enjoyed the mystery and the world created for this novel. Definitely will be returning to the series.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Just one favorite character, really? Danielle is definitely a favorite for me. She continuously works for the good of others. She strong, tenacious, funny, and vulnerable. A worthy protag to drive the book. Walt also has earned top-billing as a character. He's had to make quite the growth to catch up with modern times. Cracked me up.

Which scene was your favorite?

Too many great scenes to pick just one, but I will say I like the resonance of the last scene because it seemed an ideal way to end the book. My kind of perfect ending promises more to come!

Any additional comments?

Please, Tantor Media, make the whole series into audio format! I will buy it!

Good ghost mystery

Very enjoyable. Good characters, would have liked a little more character development....but perhaps that will happen in the next book of the series? Planning on giving it a go.

Oh Dear....

All the makings for a nice litttle "ghosty" cozy - but It just kind of fell flat. I found the writing on the trite side and a bit two-dimensnal. The reading also was a bit... off. This is one of those books where you get the feeling tthe author and narrator might be worse together than each one is alone. Doubt I'll bother with the next one:-(

I Just Can’t

DNF. The story is a silly mess of plot holes & narrator reads like she’s in performing for kindergartners.

Enjoyable first in new series

Bobbi Holmes wrote an enjoyable first in a new series. Romy Nordlinger did a good job of bringing the characters to life. I'm looking forward to the next in the series.
