Victor the Assassin never disappoints!

The Victor the Assassin series has an antihero rather than a hero as protagonist. The Final Hour is book 7 in this very popular espionage series. In Victor British author Tom Wood has developed a unique protagonist who treats killing for money as just as job. US and UK intelligence agencies hire him to kill their targets as they hire other assassins to kill him.

In The First Hour Victor is exhausted by the need to always be vigilant and would like to either retire of at the least get some time to rest. His idea is to stage his own death with the help of a female assassin.

For action and intense, sustained suspense the Victor series is as good as any of the novels of the espionage thriller genre. Fans of the genre are sure to enjoy the novels as the books also create ethical dilemmas for the reader or listener. I've often wondered why a British author like Wood would select an American like Rob Shapiro to narrates his novels. I suspect he expects the US to be the major market for his audio books. In any case Shapiro does a great job.

Not the best in the series...

This was definitely my least liked book in the series. Pretty bland. The story felt thrown together. Hopefully it sets us up to an incredible book 8.
