Eluding Scotland Yard and Sherlock Holmes, Anna Kronberg leads an inconspicuous life far from London. Until the day she wakes up to a gun pressed against her temple. With her father held hostage and no help in sight, Anna finds only one way out - to take her captor for a dance along the razor's edge while delving into Britain's tentative beginnings of espionage and systematic biological warfare.

A weak story made worse by truly awful narration

This depressing, masochistic story was not to my liking. Listened to the first 3 chapters, and felt no interest whatsoever in the implausible plight of the main character. Nothing like the first book in the series. Not sure if I will try another.

BETTER READ, NOT HEARD

I a, a new fan to the Anna K series. This was a fantastic book. I love seeing what other authors do with Mr. Holmes, and must admit I hadn't been much impressed with any other author but Laurie R. King. But this series is gritty. It grabs your attention from the beginning and holds on.
My only complaint is the narrator. Initially I'd bought the Kindle edition and listened to the auto reader set with a British accent. When I heard the audible edition I was so disappointed, I actually went back to listening to the auto reader whenever I could. The narrator has a high, squeaky voice, so Anna's voice is heavily German accented in a squeaky voice. The male voices were worse. I love narrators because they bring my books alive and rarely give negative reviews, but this time I had to say something.
I highly recommend the book in kindle edition.
