A fate worse than death…DI Murphy and DS Rossi discover the body of known troublemaker Dean Hughes, dumped on the steps of St Mary's Church in West Derby, Liverpool. His body is covered with the unmistakable marks of torture.
As they hunt for the killer, they discover a worrying pattern. Other teenagers, all young delinquents, have been disappearing without a trace.
Who is clearing the streets of Liverpool? Where are the other missing boys being held? And can Murphy and Rossi find them before they meet the same fate as Dean?
"Darkly impressive…disturbing and intelligent" (The Times)
"Gripping, unpredictable, genuinely shocking and impossible to put down" (Steve Mosby)

What did you like best about The Dying Place? What did you like least?
I'd read good reviews of this and had been looking forward to downloading it and getting started. It's an interesting idea and after a bit of a slow start it gathers a bit of momentum. Sadly it didn't last and I began to lose interest.
What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)
I was pleased to get there.
Have you listened to any of Jonathan Keeble’s other performances? How does this one compare?
This was my first and I'm impressed. He read it very well.
Was The Dying Place worth the listening time?
On balance, not really.
Any additional comments?
I didn't get to know the characters, we only got glimpses into who the main protagonists are and none of them appealed to me.

STARTED WELL THEN JUST GOT STUPID
What disappointed you about The Dying Place?
It started well and was quite intriguing them it just lost its way and got really, REALLY silly and unbelievable.I still dont know (or care) about anyone in this book.
What could Luca Veste have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
well the chatacters were annoying!! even the main one and you hardly got to know them , they all seemed like cardboard cut outs and the subplot that the author tried desperately to tie together with the end just doesn't work.
What does Jonathan Keeble bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?
I loved his accents
What character would you cut from The Dying Place?
The italian police woman, what was her point? and the fact that just because she was raised by italian parents meant that she had to keep muttering italian swear words and phrases was so annoying
Any additional comments?
Author should of stuck with the original idea it could have been a mildly enjoyable listen I dont think he thought out the plot or maybe changed it last minute.
