another great Ellery Queen book

although I was able to solve this mystery about three-quarters of the way through the book, it is still a great mystery... And I am very glad to see that they got the old narrator to come back and read this book... Great narrator makes any audible book just that much more enjoyable

I am totally enjoying the Ellery Queen mysteries. The narrator was excellent and the story is complex and entertaining.

Bad ending

Ellery does to the Dr what he accuses the Dr of. Maybe Ellery should off him self the morally blind prig.

Well Done so Long Ago

This story made me try to come up with a solution to the murder, but I must admit, I was stumped.
Written in the time before political correctness, the cultural name calling didn’t surprise me. I had a grandmother who referred to the Japanese in the same manner

Awful

I didn’t like the entire premise of this story. I could not listen to the entire thing. The idea that someone walked in to find a murdered person and let someone they didn’t know get them to lie about the murder was crazy. She let a guy she didn’t know mess things up so badly that it looked as if she committed the murder. She had no reason to let this guy get her in so deep to be honest not even Ellery could get her out of the situation. Who would believe she would let a perfect stranger that could easily have been the killer drag her down the rabbit hole to covering up for the real killer. If he wasn’t the killer why was he so anxious to cover up for whoever was the killer. I didn’t finish this mess so I don’t know who done it. And I don’t care if was just to stupid. It start in the previous book and jumped off the bridge in this one. Just the premise not the characters or the story. Instead of screaming and calling out at finding her friend dead she does everything she can to make it appear she did it. And a stranger that could be the killer helps her make it appear as if she is trying to cover up the murder. Only a confession by the real killer can save her. And even that would always leave doubt. Ellery made this woman a mental cripple. That is the only explanation for her actions and thoughts. My advice skip this one. Don’t be fooled by anyone telling you it is a good story. Run fast away from this loser.
