Publisher's summary

When Sophie Winston's neighbor - a reclusive professor - dies, his final wish is for the Domestic Diva to throw a dinner party in his honor, and he's planned everything down to the letter.

But what no one planned for is the corpse of a student that Sophie finds in his house...or the mysterious will that shows up asking the question: Did the professor cover up a huge crime?

Unexpected endings are refreshing

Enjoyable listen for a light read. Not too intense but also a decent storyline and unsuspecting culprit when all said and done. If you are looking for a fast paced intense book this isn't for you. If you are looking for a fun little read to pass time, enjoy yourself a bit without having to think too much, this is for you! I listened to it on my way home from work as a way to unwind. Very enjoyable. Great narrator too.

Such a great clever cozy mystery

Cozy but not cloying is hard to pull off. Sophie, the sleuth is extremely like able and all the characters feel very real. The mystery isn’t one you’ll guess the end to. Also, set in an atmospheric location with many cozy and historic details. Love this book!

I LOVE THIS SERIES

I LOVE THE CHARACTERS. I LOVE THE SETTING. I LOVE THE NARRATOR. I LOVED KEVIN IN THIS BOOK. HE WAS AN AMAZING LITTLE BOY AND CAN COME VISIT IN ANOTHER BOOK ANY TIME. ALEX CONTINUES TO PERPLEX ME, AND I FIND MYSELF MORE AND MORE ON TEAM MARS. I CAN TOLERATE NATASHA ONLY AS LONG AS NO OTHER CHARACTERS TAKE HER SERIOUSLY. SHE IS PRETTY ODIOUS. I AM NOW ANXIOUS BECAUSE I AM ABOUT TO BEGIN THE LAST BOOK IN THE SERIES, TO DATE. OH, PLEASE PUBLISH ANOTHER SOON, VERY SOON.

Characters Are Gracious, Not Grisly

Sweet characters. Mystery and romance without too much sex and gore. Makes me wish I lived in "Old Town, VA."

Good Cozy

I enjoyed the 2 previous installments in this series. Fun, light cozy mystery with lots of humor and excellent narration (Hillary Huber is one of my favorite narrators - good range of "character" voices and she does male voices very well too!). This book, however, was just too silly. I could not even get behind the story, just sort of outrageous/ridiculous/convoluted all the way through... The ending was out of left field, just kind of pulled out of nowhere... I will purchase the next book in this series (if the series continues), hoping that it will be better than this "slapstick" fluff...

Another good read

As always, I enjoyed hearing about the murder mysteries of Old Alexandria. Sophie is a fun character.

Kept me guessing until the end & that is NOT usual

Kept me guessing until the end & that is NOT usually the case. I could do without Natasha's by-lines at the beginning of every chapter. Snob and obnoxious as she is, one cannot take her seriously as a character in these books. The diseased architect's inventions were a GREAT addition to the narrative.
