Publisher's Summary

Jo Beckett is a forensic psychiatrist who profiles victims' lives to help solve their deaths. On a San Francisco street, she is confronted by a scene of pure carnage: four dead and five injured after a high speed pursuit. In the mangled remains of a BMW lies prosecutor Callie Harding, dead with the word "dirty" written in lipstick on her thigh. Why did Harding run from the police? Why did she crash through a bridge railing? Was it an accident? Suicide? Or murder? Jo is a last resort in difficult cases. But now she's on the front line, because Callie Harding isn't the first high flyer to go down and take others with her...

Extremey booooring...

The plot and characters are so weak and boring. Overall, this book has such a negative aura - suicides, eartquakes, killers, car and chopper's crashes, wicked people, lost love ones etc etc, every disaster you can imagine detailed here in this book. I was looking for an entertainment, a good old suspense, but the story gets from bad to worse and let me down completely. Stopped in the middle with a feeling that life sucks and then we die... Brrrrrr.... I wish I spent my money for something more interesting or educating.

An Easy Listen.

This was a very "listenable" listen, with something to keep your interest in every page. Tara Ward's excellent narration made a good book more enjoyable.

More Jo Beckett stories please Audible

After the explosive opening the book seemed to stall a little and I wondered whether in fact I was going to enjoy it as much as I had anticipated! But I need not have worried as the plot soon picked up and became a real 'page turner' or the audio equivalent. Liked the new angle of forensic psychology, but am not sure about the monkey! Narration and characterisation were excellent, highly recommended.

More enjoyable than I thought it would be

Like another reviewer I wasn't too sure of the monkey, or the neighbor. However, overall I enjoyed the story more than I thought I would and I have no hesitation in trying the second in the series, which is downloading as I type.
