Publisher's summary

When Marley McKinney's aging cousin, Jimmy, is hospitalized with pneumonia, she agrees to help run his pancake house while he recovers. With its rustic interior and syrupy scent, the Flip Side Pancake House is just as she pictured it - and the surly chef is a wizard with crêpes. Marley expects to spend a leisurely week or two in Wildwood Cove, the quaint, coastal community where she used to spend her summers, but then Cousin Jimmy is found murdered, sprawled on the rocks beneath a nearby cliff.

After she stumbles across evidence of stolen goods in Jimmy's workshop, Marley is determined to find out what's really going on in the not-so-quiet town of Wildwood Cove. With help from her childhood crush and her adopted cat, Flapjack, Marley sinks her teeth into the investigation. But if she's not careful, she's going to get burned by a killer who's only interested in serving up trouble.

Not a gripping storyline.

Unfortunately, I have to agree with several of the other reviewers. The story was very predictable, the main character was almost one of those TSTL characters which caused a great many cringe and "no duh... and you've got to be kidding me" moments as I did my best to listen to the whole story and not stop right away.

I get the feeling, from all the times the narrator had to say quinoa in a single paragraph let alone the entire chapter along with mention after mention of soy and vegetarian cuisine that the author is a vegan. It got old. Fast.

Not to mention how the character thought she had to hurry to get the evidence to the police... but decided it was a good idea to wander into an antique shop to look at a mirror instead of going straight to the police station. As I said, the lead character really is TSTL (Too Stupid To Live.)

The narrator was okay, some of the times she drew out the words more than necessary, or perhaps that was just the way she normally speaks. She also paused in odd places as if she lost track of where she was on the page she read from. It was jarring.

Love Seattle and surrounding area.

Looks like the beginning of another great series in the Pacific Northwest. Characters with believable personalities.

Great beginning to a new series

Sarah Fox has written a g reat beginning to a new series, with entertaining characters. Marguerite Havin does a great job of bringing it all to life. I highly recommend this audiobook to cozy mystery fans.

🦋Pretty Good

This is a pretty good cozy mystery. The characters are engaging and the story is plausible. I look forward to the next book.

fun

the story is cute and interesting but the author does a lot of unnecessary descriptions of things that aren't important. it makes me think that the details are going to be important and then those items never come up again

Fun Story

This is a fun story but the FMC is a little scattered at the beginning. She is helping her uncle but things happen changing her path. While trying to figure out what happened she seems to miss some key things. But it finishes strong and is a fun listen. The narrator does a great job and brings the story to life.

Would pass on the book

I really wanted to like the story, but it was very generic and the character didn't really have depth.
