Publisher's summary

During her years spent in New York City, Faith Fairchild was convinced she had seen pretty much everything. But the transplanted caterer/minister's wife was unprepared for the surprises awaiting her in the sleepy Massachusetts village of Aleford. And she is especially taken aback by the dead body of a pretty young thing she discovers stashed in the church's belfry.

The victim, Cindy Shepherd, was well-known locally for her acid tongue and her jilted beaux, which created a lot of bad blood and more than a few possible perpetrators - including her luckless fiance, who had neither an alibi nor a better way to break off the engagement. Faith thinks it's terribly unfair that the police have zeroed in on the hapless boyfriend, and so she sets out to uncover the truth.

Fun good read.

This is a very nice cozy with likable characters and interesting local color. The plot is as good as most cozies and better than some so I really don't understand the folks that gave this a bad review.

Great debut

Great characters, interesting plot, lacking in a plethora of expletives, graphic gore or sex. Loved it! Will be tuning in to this series.

Good Cozy With a Sense of Humor

I enjoyed this book. The characters are interesting and likable. The small town setting is pleasant. The mystery element is good. There are touches of humor that caused me chuckle out loud as I listened.

The only thing that didn't appeal to me was a protagonist who decided she had to solve the murder herself. In the process she ended up in mortal danger. Based on the tone of the book I expected she would be rescued, and she was. This is a common thing is many mysteries and it annoys me.

This is a good choice for an "easy listen" cozy.

enjoyable gentle mystery

I like this kind of thing; glad to find the series. A couple of minor annoyances in the story (unrealistic baby) and narration (male voices) would push me out of the zone rather than keeping me drawn in. But overall I like the heroine (young mother) and the tone (light with some intrigue) and the setting (charming small town).

Fatuous In The Extreme

I don't know which was worse--the ultra fast talking, never take a breath narration or the breezy, idiotic, brandname & fancy place name dropping writing. I can't call it storytelling--more like bragging about a perfect NYC / New England life "telling". This trust-fund proud, assuming, and shallow main character made for an unbelievable wife and daughter of two pastors. I listened to the first chapter gape mouthed.

Thank goodness for the Audible terrible book return policy. I can't get this birdbrained drivel out of my library fast enough. A total waste of time. What I really wonder about is who edits and publishes these things? Mind boggling.

The worst story

It was the longest most disconnected story
I have ever heard, skipped chapter 3 to the end! Nothing made sense!
