Blue Hallelujah

What did you love best about The Blue Hallelujah?

A truly gripping crime thriller right from the first beginning to end. The main character is an elderly gentleman.A young girl is kidnapped and the event is connected to one of her grandfathers old homicide cases and his wife, who died whilst in prison for killing a serial child killer. The story was solid and well written enough to survive without that added horrific dimension of violence.

This is an enjoyable suspense/mystery, with a slight difference (the build up and form).
I really liked the plot and found the characters likeable and beievable, it captured and held my interst throughout.

This was a really good book!It was full of suspense and intrigue.A girl goes missing from a Day Camp.Was it random?Related to her grandmothers past?Something else?Read it to find out!My only qualm about this book was all the praying.I do not see that this is a 'Christian book'.After the first few mentions we KNOW people are praying throughout.It does not need to be mentioned over and over.
Steve Rimpici was an excellent narrator!

Great EDGE OF SEAT Thriller

"The Blue Hallelujah" was a good edge-of-your seat thriller beginning with the protagonist Jerry Strickland, an ailing retired detective who's writing his memoir about himself and his deceased wife Rebecca. The truth of what happened years ago would be his legacy.

While his daughter Lori stops in to check on him, she learns that her 17 year old son Colin was late AGAIN picking up his little sister Marnee from summer camp and now she's missing. Lori blames him for her disappearance. Jerry hides away his memoir for the time being and insists on putting his old detective skills to use again and help in the search. This also allows him a chance to bond with his grandson Colin as his parents, Lori and dad Alex are separated and getting a divorce.

I thought this was an exciting AND scary suspense story because it had an underlying story as well. The memoir of Jerry's wire Rebecca who died of cancer while serving a 20 year prison sentence. The story moves back and forth from past to present with a great twist. It makes you think about morals and what would you do if you had the chance to stop a horrible crime before it happened even if the price was your own freedom. Overall, I really enjoyed this story and I especially took note of the exceptional narration.

About the narrator: STEVE RIMPICI ! He did an outstanding job with this audiobook. I was very impressed with the versatility he's shown in his ability to perform multiple distinctive characters with not one sounding like the other. Each character was clearly different with the voices matching the personalities. I would definitely recommend this audiobook. It's medium length and a great listen.
