I really like The Advocate series, but this book..

...is so profoundly disturbing that completing it was painful. The Advocate series deals with advocating for children who are in trouble. The author has done that for much of her life. The advocate in the series is attorney Sabre Brown. The Advocate's Dilemma is a murder mystery that deals with pedophilia which profoundly disturbs me because I believe based on published evidence that it is a mental disease which does not respond to treatment. Our society must protect our children from pedophiles even if it means life sentences without parole.

This is Book 4 in this 7 book series and this is the 4th book I have reviewed. It probably deserves 5 stars like the others, but I wish I had not read it. Narration is adequate, but barely so.

A heartbreaking and entertaining legal thriller

The Advocate’s Dilemma is an intense legal thriller centered around a juvenile advocate lawyer and her young clients. This story involving murder, drugs, homelessness, and pedophilia is as heartbreaking as it is entertaining.

The narrator of the books is pretty good, but her speech has a certain pattern and intensity that can be a little off putting.

I received a complimentary copy of this audiobook. This is my honest and voluntary review.

ANOTHER AWESOME BOOK

LIFE HAS GANGED. MY EGG DONOR AND BUN WARMER WOULD HAVE SPENT A LOT OF TIME IN PRISON FOR WHAT THEY DID TO US. ONE GOOD THING CAME OUT OF THAT MESS WAS THAT WITH 8 CHILDREN WE ALL TURNED OUT TO BE GREAT ADULTS. NONE OF US GOT INTO TROUBLE, DIDN'T SMOKE OR DRINK. NEVER HEARD OF DOING DRUGS EVEN THOUGH THEY MAY HAVE BEEN AROUND WE NEVER HEARD OF THEM. ALL GRADUATE FROM HIGH SCHOOL AND ALL BUT 2 OF US WENT ON TO GET HIGHER EDUCATION. AS THE OLDEST GIRL I DID A GREAT JOB OF RASING THEM. THE STORIES THAT TERESA WRITES ABOUT MAKES FEEL THOSEE LONG AGO YEARS BUT WE DIDN'T HAVE AN ADVOCATE OR ANY OTHER ADULT TO AID US.

The 4thbook of advocacy books and I’ve enjoyed them all.

I enjoy the friendships, the humor ( especially J P’s remarks), and Sabre who cares for her colleagues and all of her clients. Great character development! I like that I don’t predict the end until the story is told.

Legal thriller Who Dunnit

Good characters with authentic relationships. You really grow to care about the people, but not the creepy scum bag types.

They Just keep getting better!

Have you listened to any of Laurel Schroeder’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I have only listened to 4 books, two of them narrated by Laurel. She is fantastic.

Any additional comments?

When Sabre opens her office in the morning she is suprised to find a dead body sprawled across her desk. It starts to get interesting when the body is identified as the husband of one of Bob's clients. We add a cop who has a grudge against JP and things heat up fast.
It doesn't look good for Bob.
Again the book has its lighthearted moments and still addresses the problems parents pass on to their children. The cases assigned to the lawyers reflect everyday life and things children must endure in the real world but the author is not on a soap box.
There is always an unexpected twist. JP's expressions alone are worth the cost of the book and are an added bonus. I loved the book and would recommend it to all my friends.
