Publisher's Summary

Number-one New York Times and USA Today best-selling author Sandra Brown jolts the listener from the first minute of this heart-pounding story of corruption, treachery, and ceaseless deception...where nothing is what it seems and every truth brought to light exposes a darker lie.
When Jordie Bennet and Shaw Kinnard lock eyes across a disreputable backwater bar, something definitely sparks. Shaw gives off a dangerous vibe that makes men wary and inspires women to sit up and take notice. None feel that undercurrent more strongly than savvy businesswoman Jordie, who doesn't belong in a seedy dive on the banks of a bayou. But here she is...and Shaw Kinnard is here to kill her.
As Shaw and his partner take aim, Jordie is certain her time has come. But Shaw has other plans and abducts Jordie, hoping to get his hands on the $30 million her brother has stolen and, presumably, hidden. However, Shaw is not the only one looking for the fortune. Her brother's ruthless boss and the FBI are after it as well. Now on the run from the feds and a notorious criminal, Jordie and Shaw must rely on their wits - and each other - to stay alive.
Miles away from civilization and surrounded by swampland, the two play each other against their common enemies. Jordie's only chance of survival is to outwit Shaw, but it soon becomes clear to Shaw that Jordie isn't entirely trustworthy, either. Was she in on her brother's scam, or is she an innocent pawn in a deadly vendetta? And just how valuable is her life to Shaw, her remorseless and manipulative captor? Burning for answers - and for each other - this unlikely pair ultimately make a desperate move that could be their last.
With nonstop plot twists and the tantalizing sexual tension that has made Sandra Brown one of the world's best-loved authors, Sting will keep listeners on the edges of their seats until the final minutes.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

As a long time fan of Ms Brown, her books are an automatic buy. This is a light mystery as are her current other books. All are great entertainment. I own all of Ms Browns books read by the great Victor Selzack. White hot unabridged if you can find and Smoke Screen are my faves. I love Mean Streak. Don't miss it.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Sting?

Ms Brown as an early writer, wrote core romances at there very best. She can do the best smallest romance scene and make it smoke.

Have you listened to any of Stephen Lang’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I like Mr Lang as he is a professional. You see it in his films e.g. Tombstone. He has really gotten in to Ms Browns rythum in this book. It could be the sitting, but it is great. I do own all the other Brown/Lang reads and none disappoint.
Note: I do use the new 1.25x speed so the action matches the authors intent.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Yes, Ms Brown as always has the moment of discovery.

Any additional comments?

Ms Brown's once a year new book is always a pleasure to get and this one doesn't disappoint. If you are new to Ms Brown's work. Try Mean Streak first, read by the great Jonathan Davis.

Rapists are not sexy

Any additional comments?

It is profoundly disturbing to me that a female author would play into the "rape culture" mentality that it is somehow sexy and tantalizing for a man to assault, kidnap, rape, over-power, control, threaten, or otherwise abuse a women. We are supposed to accept that a woman who is being threatened with rape and murder is somehow attracted to her captor and tormentor. Big strong man so sexy. It's not sexy. When a man threatens to kill you or rape you it is terrifying and no...not seductive. No woman would be thinking about his lips or his big sexy muscles or his "mesmerizing stare." Rapists and otherwise abusive men are not sexy. That's my last Sandra Brown book.
