I'm afraid I totally disagree with the other review here. I've read all of the Cam Richter series including the new one Nightwalker. Deutermann couldn't write anything bad if he tried. This series is one of my favorites. I think the other reviewer should have finished the book. I always read books in a series in the order they were written. The Cat Dancers, Spider Mountain, The Moonpool, Firefly and Nightwalker. They are all excellent and much better if read in order. All of Deutermann's books are great but the Cam Richter series are still my favorites and hoping for another one in about a year. Read the book and make your own decision but read them in order, you won't be sorry you did. We all have different tastes so one bad review should not make a difference. And Dick Hill is the best narrator on the planet as far as I am concerned. Anything read by Dick Hill is better. A bad narrator can kill an audio book. Dick Hill won't dissappoint. Buy it and enjoy and read all the others in this series. I will be reading them more than once.

Gee, A book rated by others so highly had me psyched and ready to have a great listen. I thought the plot premise was interesting. However, the author was overindulgent and went way way too far in my opinion; thus this book was truly silly and unbelievable. The characters became more and more ridiculous; the main character kept talking about drinking scotch every few sentences, and I just kept thinking, "shut up and just have a drink already". The female state agent, who although higher in rank than the male lead, along with other professional law enforcement agents, consistently deferred to the lead scotch drinking male. They all were pretty inept at tracking the bad guys, making one bad decision after another, maybe they were just too inebriated to do better. But I hung in there until the end, and it became a long haul after a while. I chose this book in a "three books for two credits" promotion..... and hey, sometimes you get what you pay for.
