Publisher's summary

Arrested for shoplifting, a woman with amnesia fears both her past and her future, and claims no knowledge of the mysterious young girl found with her. Sins of the Father focuses on the efforts of a daring psychologist to bring an emotionally troubled woman face to face with a horrifying reality, yet protect her from a complete and permanent emotional breakdown.

Following on the footsteps of her first novel, Suffer the Little Children, this is another fascinating book by Valerie Allen. Sins of the Father takes the listener into the abyss of mental illness. This story travels through the fragile mind of an emotionally overwhelmed woman and her tortuous journey to wellness.

Very Dark & Heavy Material ⌘

Sins of the Father

⌘ This is a book about a complex situation that a lot of us know but don't know the intimate details of the situation.

⌘ "Jane Doe" is found, after an accident, but she has amnesia. "Jane Doe Junior" is with her, a young girl who only communicates through the toys and language of the caseworker/nurse assigned to her.

⌘ Valerie Allen is thorough without being overbearing with too many details in this work. Near the end of the book, I felt it was a bit unresolved. This is not a negative. It left me to think… a challenge that a clear resolution and epilogue would not have given me.

⌘ Sheila Cavalette performs masterfully. There is not one thing that would take away from her five-star performance.

⌘ I encourage you to read Suffer the Little Children before Sins of the Father, but it is not necessary. Each book stands alone.

Notes: This book has some strong and descriptive situations regarding both mental and physical abuse (mentions of rape.) This is geared toward adult listeners.

⌘ While this is categorized as a 'Mystery Thriller – Suspense, the material is really heavy and not something I would want to listen to - only to pass the time or relaxing on a beach. I believe it is meant for a more somber and mature audience.

Great listening experience

Any additional comments?

This is the third audiobook I've listened to by the same author/narrator team. Disappointed there are no more!

Sins of the father

This was a good story of family relationships and how they can ruin us.A woman and a child board a bus.Next we find that the woman has is hospitalized with amnesia, not even recalling the child that was with her. What was she fleeing? This is a heartwrechingly real story, narrated nicely by Sheila Cavalette.“I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator, or publisher.”
