Publisher's Summary

Josie Bates has a full plate caring for a troubled teen, but it's about to get fuller when her ex-cop lover, Archer, is accused of murdering his disabled stepson - a son Josie never knew he had. When Timothy Wren died at California's oldest amusement park it appeared to be a tragic accident. But now Timothy's biological father and the district attorney are out for blood. Is this a criminal action with merit, a vendetta, or a shakedown? For Josie the stakes are personal. Racing against time to prove someone is framing Archer, her faith in him is tested by his honesty regarding his feelings about his stepson. Finally, she finds the truth lies not in Archer's words but with a long-forgotten silent witness.

As Good As the First in the "Witness Series"

This book is worthy of your time. It helps a little if you have read the first in the series since one of the supporting characters is carried over from the fist book entitled "Hostile Witness." I understand a third book is close to completion, and I plan to read it as well.

If you read the book, ask yourself some questions about the relationship between the heroine lawyer Josie and her Most Favored Companion the retired cop. I'll leave it at that, but I think you will get my drift when you read it.

The narrator is OK but not great. She rushes the read and lacks the interpretive skills to add drama to the story...tonal change, pause and emphasis is lacking. If you are an avid Audible fan you understand the value of a great narrator. Cheers, Ken

Another Astounding Book in the Witness Series!

If you could sum up Silent Witness in three words, what would they be?

Amazingly well crafted.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

I have found that all of Rebecca Forster's thrillers keep me on the edge of my seat. It is obvious that she does extensive research for her books and the realism of her storylines doesn't just float by. The elements of the story she tellls are current and relevant. You will become invested in the story because that realism and relevance slaps you in the head, grabs you and drags you to the edge of your seat. I find that I am always making mental guesses at 'who dunit', but I try to hold off turning to the end to find out if my guess is correct.

Have you listened to any of Tara Platt’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Yes, I have listened to Tara in the past. I am quite fond of her delivery and in the way she gives each character their own character. Her work in Hostile Witness was awesome. She has a voice that you can listen to for hours.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I am a roller coaster lover and was really pulled into the amusement park scenes. Ms. Forster's gift for descriptive style puts a visual in your mind and you can 'see' the story. Couple that gift with Tara Platt's delivery, and you have an audio book that is a riveting experience.

Any additional comments?

I hope to see many more in the Witness Series, both in print and in audio form.
