When a deputy identifies the man's body 50 years after his disappearance, the family turns to their niece, Deena Sharpe, to uncover the truth about his murder. She's a burned-out high school teacher who soon discovers that a mysterious author is about to implicate her dead uncle in his latest conspiracy theory. She must channel her inner super-sleuth to solve the puzzle and protect her family name. With the help of her off-beat brother and others from the cozy town of Maycroft, Texas, Deena takes on a quest that leads to more questions than answers. Along the way, she discovers some truths about life and about herself. From antique shopping to car chases to ghosts in the night, life in the suburbs just got a lot more complicated.

Easy going

This was a very interesting story. It had twist and turns and involved possible conspiracy. A body that was found about 50 years ago and had been in police evidence was finally id'd. It was the main characters uncle who had disappeared over 50 years earlier. The police do not really have time to handle this cold case because there is not leads. So Deena takes on the challenge of trying to find out who killed her uncle who was actually her cousin. There will be all kinds of twist and turns before the book ends. I will more in this series. I wanted to say Madeline Mrozek did a great job on the narration. I receive this book from from audio book worm for an honest review of this audio book

Smart

This is one of the better cozy mysteries I've ever listened to. It's clever and intelligent, suspenseful and intriguing. If it had a better humor element, it would have been top notch. But it was great just the way it is, too. I just really value humor. The wit that is represented is quite good, just not enough of it in my opinion. The relationships between the characters are fantastic and I'm always a little relieved when the romance angle is not foremost. Already happily married is a welcome breath of fresh air!
The narrator was quite good. This book was very professional and I feel lucky to have obtained it free in exchange for this honest review.
