Seismic

Beth might not know a bunch about Donovan but she know she is in love with him, even if he is suspected of murder. Beth goes with him to turn himself in and explain how he is innocent and how he is being framed. But when the flood waters recede there is more to discover and it means a trip to California to try and catch Donovan's brothers killer and of course Beth will not let him go alone. Than it really gets crazy.

This is a wonderful audio, it was so much fun to listen too, I didn't want it to end thank goodness there are more adventures so it didn't really end. The story line is awesome and the narrator sticks you right in the middle of all the action like you could help too. Voice actor Bill Nevitt is that kind of narrator, he can transport you into the story using his voice, I have truly enjoyed all the audio-books I have narrated by Mr. Nevitt and now also those written by Mr. Fey.

"Driving his libido into overdrive."

This is the second in the Disaster Crimes series by Chrys Fey and, initially, I thought that, had I previously read the first book, this one might had den easier to slip into. But now? I don't really think it matters. Beth and Donovan are a couple, at least, they do seem to spend a lot of time coupling, which, for me, seriously distracts from my enjoyment of the story. Especially as it can be quite graphically described. Not being a fan of romances, I am willing to tolerate some lovey dovey, boy meets girl and they call for each other stuff, but this is more washed out pornography at times, and there are far too many times. The rest of the story, by contrast, is quite entertaining, an unusual thriller, well written, including a description of an earthquake.

Narration of this book is by the excellent Bill Nevitt, who pleasant voice and gentle accent is warm, well paced, conveying both emotion and action, and complete with appropriate individual character voicings. As always, a fine performance. His readings are always well worth hearing.

So how to rate this book? The narration kept me listening to the end but the emotional plus interplay between the main protagonists was not only irritating, it was truly off putting. I'm sure this would further enhance the book for some but not for me. So, perhaps somewhere in the middle.
My thanks, however, to the rights holder who,,at my request, freely gifted me with a complimentary copy.

Catastrophic energy

Chrys writes very descriptively and I felt I was there during the earthquake. Because it is a romance-based book, there are a lot of sex scenes in the book.

Bill Nevitt does a good job narrating.

Dangerous

I enjoyed listening to Bill Nevitt narrate this story. He brought to it more danger in his telling. Excitement throughout the story brings so much more when your listening to the book. It was thrilling and seemed that they fought earthquakes and the destruction from it along with criminals after them. I would say this is one audio you don't want to miss.

Good thriller

First, I don't think this is a mystery, we know from the beginning who and why, but I liked the sense of adventure and danger from the storyline.

I think the plot was well done and it hold my attention all the way but... gosh! why should we go through so much sex? I'm not a prude, it's just that there were more explicit (VERY EXPLICIT!) sex scenes in it than in most of any romance novel, and they serve no function at all. And the worst was that, sorry, but they were boring. I fast-forwarded through all of them and I guess I'll keep doing it as I don't think the author will stop writing them *laughs*

But I'm engaged enough with the story itself that I'll will listen to the next one.

As always, Bill Nevitt does an excellent work with the narration: perfectly differentiated voices, great timing and clarity; truly enjoyable.

I love these crime solving love birds!

This is a very enjoyable series with characters that I have really come to like reading about. The addition of having to deal with a natural disaster as this couple do some figuring out of their relationship and finding out who did the crime that they stumbled makes for a good story line..
The narrator did a wonderful job and made it a very entertaining listen.
A great series with interesting main characters..

Bad Luck Couple

I was given this free review copy audio-book at my request and have voluntarily left this review. This review is for the audio copy of Seismic Crimes - Disaster Crimes, Book 2 by Chrys Fey and narrated by Bill Nevitt. I missed book 1 but it did not make any difference because the story opened up with action as it provided enough backstory to gain an understanding of what was going on. It was a very good story with lots of action. Of course being read by Bill Nevitt guaranteed it would be entertaining.

Love, crimes, and an earthquake

When it comes to natural disasters, Beth and Donovan have the worst luck. In Seismic Crimes, they face an earthquake, along with some nasty villains. The book takes a long time to get to the action (unless action means a lot of graphic sex to you), but once the book gets moving, it really moves.

Seismic Crimes is the second book in the series. I have listened to several of the books out of order, and I have not listened to the first book yet. I would imagine they would be better in order, but you can enjoy then independently as I did.

Recommended for adult readers only. Contains graphic sex scenes.

The narrator does a great job bringing the series to life.

I received a complimentary copy of this audiobook. This is my honest and voluntary review.

Part 2 of an action romance

This is the second book in the disaster crimes series. I have not read the first one and although this story stands alone, it would have been nice to have the background to the characters and their history when listening to this story.

Beth and Donovan work together to find out what happened to Donovan’s brother. Donovan has been framed for his murder and while trying to clear his name, they have an earthquake to deal with.

The story is action-packed and fast-paced with a steamy side to it. It is unusual to mix action and sexy/romance for me in a story, but I quite liked the combination. The pace changes had me on the edge of my seat and I really enjoyed the way the story was written. Albeit slightly predictable, it was still a thoroughly entertaining story.

Bill narrated expertly. He adds tempo and style variation to fit the scenes perfectly. He has great intonation for both female and male characters and provided a stellar performance in my view.

Note: This book was given to me for free at my request and I have provided this objective review, voluntarily.

Edge of the seat story

Seismic Crimes by Chrys Fey is a book that grabs the reader right from the start and doesn't let go until the dramatic end. Although part of a series, the author does a good job of filling in any pertinent details from the first book that the reader may need to know. In their search for a dirty cop, Beth and Donovan have landed in California just in time for a catastrophic earthquake. Lots of action, gripping descriptions of scenes, strong characters and an exciting plot make for a good book and Seismic Crimes has them all. I am looking forward to finding out more about this couple in the next books in the series.
I listened to a complimentary copy of the audiobook and the narrator, Bill Nevitt, does a great job telling the story, making for an enjoyable listening experience.
I will put a caution that this book is at least a PG-13 rating, due to language and intimacy details.
