Publisher's summary

What happens to an unhappy woman who leaves her husband only to discover that she may have just made a terrible mistake? So horrible, her choice threatens to end her very life?

Susan believes that the grass is greener on the other side. Not that her current life is bad, necessarily; it's just boring and lifeless, kind of like the old matted rug on her dining room floor. Susan thinks her marriage has just grown - well, old. Her husband, Bob, has gained tremendous weight and continues to gain, and his health suffers. She must work at a job she hates full-time to provide the little sustenance they have. He, on the other hand, works very little (because of his health) and prefers spending his days watching television or surfing the Internet. Besides, there's her problem of not getting pregnant that can't help but contribute to his unhappiness.

Can Susan continue to live her life at the hotel knowing that she might be killed herself or imprisoned for life? Will she be able to find the real murderer with the help of the eccentric Ms. Martha Boaz?

Cozy mystery that is a lot of fun

What did you love best about Scrambled?

This cozy mystery was a lot of fun to read. Well written with some very eccentric characters, Ms. Jones told a story that had plenty of twists and turns and a great sense of humor.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

Yes it did. I won't spoil it, but Ms. Boaz was the one who surprised me the most. Besides Susan/Jenny, she was my favorite character.

Have you listened to any of Lauren Holladay’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

This is the first time I've listened to her. She really brought the story to life. I'll listen to more of her narrations in the future.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I laughed a few times, no extreme reactions, but it was a fun read.

Any additional comments?

I hope that Ms. Jones puts her other books in audio format. I would definitely listen to her mysteries.

Egg-cellent!

A really fun cozy mystery, with great, eccentric characters. I highly recommend it! The narration by Lauren Holladay was very good. She made sure the voices were distinct. I'm looking forward to the releases of the next Susan Cramer Mysteries on Audible.

Less than what I hoped for

Previous ratings were high for this book and mentioned how humorous it was, so I decided to try this book. It had no humor but was rather depressing and a bit confusing in certain areas. How could so many men be attracted to her if she was older and unattractive. That was the impression that I got from the author's writing. It just didn't seem believable. Humor would have helped this story tremendously. This story lacked creative imagination.
