Publisher's summary

John Milton is trying to make amends for a career spent killing for the British Secret Service. He has a burning need to right wrongs - and rewrite his own bloody past. He finds himself in Louisiana, the Big Sleazy, the bayou, and the post-Katrina wreckage of the Gulf Coast with a debt of honor to repay.

Isadora Bartholomew, who saved his partner's life, needs his help. Joel Babineaux, a ruthless property magnate, is out to sink the charity she established to help rebuild the Lower Ninth Ward.

Just when Milton thinks he has neutralised Babineaux's scheming, a dangerous man from his past takes an unhealthy interest in his present. Claude Boon used to work for the Mossad and might be more than Milton can handle. And then the stakes get even higher....

Salvation Row is the most explosive thriller yet in Mark Dawson's best-selling John Milton series. It's a book no self-respecting suspense fan will want to be without.

Mark Dawson is my best new author find of 2015

The John Milton series consists of 2 novellas and 6 novels. Every on of the 8 books deserves a five star rating. John Milton is a British espionage agent who is trying to leave the agency after years against the wishes of the agency. I wish that Mark Dawson would write more John Milton novels, but that seems unlikely.

Dawson is a wonderful author.

Another hit

Dawson has hit his stride. Nothing stops the adrenaline. Fast action, justice prevails, character continues to grow. What more can you ask? Even the reader had better American accents this time out,( pretty bad in earlier reads),
Intend to read his two other series. All six of these were really enjoyable for action, survival readers. I will say the fifth, Sword of God, was the best to me.

Louisiana Hot

This book was very good. I would recommend to followers of the John Milton series or those who enjoy David Thorpe or Mark Dawson. Unfortunately, you have to follow the entire John Milton series to gain an appreciation for this book, as you will better understand the character (Milton) that way, inclusive of the history that he references. This book was strong, but it's the introduction of an amazing character named Avi Bachman that really sends this story into overdrive. Avi is awesome!

Control is gone, so we need a new enemy

The timing of this story was confusing. For many chapters we have a flashback to when Milton first decides to go on the wagon, has a mission in New Orleans, works with a geek, half completes the job, survives Hurricane Katrina and meets a strong family in the poor side of town. They help save the geek's life, and Milton leaves for 8 years, then comes back just after the end of book 5. The nice family is having trouble with corrupt politicians and lawmen and land developers, and Milton feels compelled to help. As if that weren't enough, those bad guys hire a hitman to kill Milton! And guess what, he's an old associate.

I guess it wasn't enough to have wicked, designing men trying to kill him, we need a replacement for the old Control who was out to get Milton until Milton undid him. Now Milton's friend is the new Control, so no trouble from that quarter.

The fights were good, and Milton didn't end up boffing anyone, but he just seems to do things the hardest way there is. He does contemplate the truth that in all his attempts to atone for his past, he has to kill people to do any good. I don't know, it just doesn't match up to Victor the Assassin, but then, I can't see Victor trying to go straight and make good.

As always, the narration is wonderful, and poor Milton has to leave town and everyone he just made friends with. I will continue with the series so long as it still satisfies something in me.

Great story

Great story. It would really help if the narrator could improve his pronunciation of American place names. When they’re significantly mispronounced it’s rather distracting.

Milton does it again

I love listening to the John Milton stories, an assassin who does good wherever he goes while taking care of the problem along the way!

Another winner from Mark Dawson!

If you really want to get to know John Milton, just listen to his awesome Playlist...the Smiths, Artic Monkey, Queens of the Stone Age, Happy Mondays, Stones Roses, The Morriseys, etc. Milton's anthem is " How Soon is Now" by the Smiths.

The overall premise is a little shaky

Milton is still great. The situation he finds himself in this time however, feels very forced. Evil rich guy, corrupt politicians and police, all very cliche and shoehorned into the story.
