Publisher's summary

Grieving the death of his partner, Theo Bosco has no room in his life for distractions. Though his instincts scream that he should avoid Juliet "Jules" Jackson, he can't seem to stay away. It doesn't help that Theo's new K9 companion has fallen head over paws with Jules's rambunctious family.

Or that when he's with her, Theo finally knows peace.

When Jules rescued her siblings, whisking them away to the safety of the beautifully rugged Colorado Rockies, she never expected to catch the eye - or the heart - of a cop. Yet as Jules struggles to fight her growing attraction to the brooding K9 officer, another threat lurks much closer to home...

And this time, there's no escape.

Narrator driving me nuts

Would you try another book from Katie Ruggle and/or Callie Beaulieu?

Maybe

Would you recommend Run to Ground to your friends? Why or why not?

No, the story isn't good enough to over come the horrible narration

What didn’t you like about Callie Beaulieu’s performance?

I could get past her flat delivery if she didn't read the stuttering brother so poorly. She sounds like she's having a heart attack with every stutter. Just read it the way its written! She is so bad it made me angry every time that poor kid tried to speak. Not because of the stutter, but because he apparently tried to loudly inhale with every syllable he tried to speak.

Could you see Run to Ground being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

no

Any additional comments?

Argh. I'm still angry at the narrator.

Narration is unbearable. Returning before finished

So sorry to be so negative, but I have enjoyed this author so much and fully intended to listen to this series but I am only one chapter in and can't bear the narration. So disappointed. Katie, if you are considering a redo, then yes, it is worth it. Callie, your cadence feels very unnatural. It leaves me feeling like I have been jerked around. The studdering interpretation is shocking. quite often, the tone doesn't match what is written and that leaves me confused. With all of that going on, it is hard to enjoy the story.

Loved this story

I thought this was an interesting storyline. Something a little different.

The narrator was good, except for the part of Sam...that was a bit annoying.

Looking forward to the next book in this series.

Okay as is

I listened to the audio of this book.
Julies escaped with her four brothers and sister. She'd tried the legal way to get custody of the children under the abusive care of her stepmother with no success. With recommendation and some help, she ran to the small town and settled them in place. The last person she wanted to have notice her was a cop. A surly cop asking questions. A hot cop. A cop with problems of his own. He'd lost his partner/mentor. Theo had been assigned his dead partner's K9, who wasn't doing any better with the loss than Theo.
Despite the mismatch, Theo starts to thaw around Jules and his dog does as well around her family. Is there any way for all of them to come together? If they do, will the person/persons trying to kill her succeed and keep them apart permanently?
The audio was good. It did take me a bit to get used to the narrator. While others seem to think the studdering was overdone, with the abuse Sam had gone through, I think it was okay.
Looks like the next book is another one for my wish list!

Worse Narrator ... Good story as Usual

What did you like about this audiobook?

Katie Ruggle books always leave the actual ending somewhat of a surprise. This book is a great thriller and keeps your attention towards finding out what happens next. The subtle love plot is always a bonus but never over the top and only adds a soft touch to the suspense portion of the plot.

Does the author present information in a way that is interesting and insightful, and if so, how does he achieve this?

This author does a great job of bouncing back and forth in the beginning chapters to show the back story of how Jules got to CO and why.

What did you find wrong about the narrator's performance?

The Narrator.... sounds like a choppy computer... makes me dizzy listening. Most of the sentences are blocked... and not fluid. It is hard to get into the rhythm of the story. The only good thing that this narrator does is stutter for Sam, hence the choppy parts.

Do you have any additional comments?

The book would be so very much better with Rachel Dulude presenting.

A Waste of Time

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

A whole lot less of how "hot" the female lead was and a total excise of the way the male's shirt "almost busted the seams". Was this supposed to be a bodice ripper? And a lot less of the "as if" comparisons. This story might appeal to a teen-aged audience, or perhaps fans of romance fiction. I'm neither, so I can't judge that.

What was most disappointing about Katie Ruggle’s story?

Somewhere is all the repetitive dialogue and unbelievable event sequence, there might have been a story. I rarely give up on a book, but after 4 hours of listening, I couldn't stand it any more.

What aspect of Callie Beaulieu’s performance would you have changed?

The reader was fine. She just didn't have any material to work with. She handled the southern accents and the various children's voices well. I really don't have any complaints about her. She had to read as written.

What character would you cut from Run to Ground?

Both the male and female lead characters. What's left?

Great K9 romance novel

Loved this book. Lots of action and suspence with witb a good dose of romance. The description of the characters, the hot looks between the main male and female in the story made you feel you were there seeing them yourselves in the roles they were playing and made you laugh along with them, too. A very good read.
