I story you just can't get the handle on :)

Any additional comments?

This was a very different story the plots was wonderful. As you find answers to some of your questions you are left with more unanswered. This is a very emotional book with a mad man using Madeline to get things he wants or he will kill her best friend. He uses every chance he gets to drive Madeline mad and over the edge using her friend saying either she does what he wants in a timely manner or he will rape and then kill her friend. There is one place where you think that is just what is going to happen but Madeline was able to talk him down. There are people or things chasing Madeline and it looks like they are trying to kill her. I am still unsure if they are from the future or if this might all be a mind game. This kind of reminds me of one of my favorite movies the Matrix. With the closure of book one you are left with the question of what just happened is Ciaran a human or a machine. Just what did they do to him and how will this end. This will be just one of many question that I hope to find out as the series continues.

Just when you think you have a handle on what is going on the author changes that and throws a few twist in leaving you think this cannot be good. Many people will die and more to come as the author takes you through a story only she knows the ending to. There are some really interesting characters that keep you on your toes. Some your heart will go out to, some you will trust but should not. Just what is it about blue lights and bells? Who or what are those soldiers? Has your mind gone out of control? Did you just see what you thought you saw? So many questions and not enough answers.

Catherine Edwards does a good job with the narration. Her voices are nice her female are better than her male. I somehow expected since this took place in London for some of the voices to be British but none were that I could tell. Ms. Edwards has a very pleasant strong voice which comes across very clear. There were a few times that the sound changed from low to higher, it could have been my radio and not the audio. I do feel sure these where the time she took a break. It doesn’t take away from the audio you can barely hear it. For the most part she puts strong emotion into her read. When she is on the phone it really sounds like who ever she is talking to is using a phone. There is really a big different you feel like they are talking far away as one would be if talking on a phone. There were times I felt a little more emotion should have been used like when Ciaran brother got hurt and he didn’t know if he would live or die. From the way the story went he should have been yelling at him to open his eyes with a must stronger tone and voice. I felt the narrator did make you feel for the most part what the character felt I could hear tears in her voice when Madeline was upset about her friend or trying to find the things she need to so she could save her. I could feel the cold coming right off Ciaran mother. I am left wondering what secrets she holds and if we will find them out. I did enjoy the narration of Ms. Edwards and feel with a little more time she will make an outstanding narrator.

Madeline is a wonderful character you never really get a handle on her. She is sweet and kind always helping people who needs help. She is very outgoing and works hard to find the answers. She is trying to work out her psychic ability if that is what it is. Even she is unsure just what those blue dots are and why they keep changing. Where do they come from and just what are they trying to tell her? She doesn’t know who she can trust or which way to turn. Before she gets through this mess she is left with the questions are her friends true friends, does she have anyone she can count on, anyone she can trust. She is putting all her eggs in Ciaran basket will this be a mistake?

Ciaran is still very much a mystery to me I think he is a mystery to his self. He is left with many questions with no answers and he isn’t sure he will ever find them. The number 33 seems to be important in his life he is still left trying to work that out. He comes across as a mystery and we are still wondering what he is hiding. Not even the president has such high tech lock downs. I did really like him he is alpha but kind and caring. At times you are left thinking he is playing a cat and mouse game. He is holding his cards close to his chest not giving anything way. There is no doubt he is handsome, caring and strong. Something happens that leaves the reader wondering if he is real or not and just what is he hiding and why all the high tech security.

Ciaran brother is just a sweetheart more of an adventurer, traveling and hooking up with women I think. He is just a fun loving guy who loves to have fun and enjoy life. He is the opposite of Ciaran. Their mother I cannot get a handle on her. I know she loves her family to the point of chasing off women. She is hiding a big secret that she never plains on letting out. I am pretty sure it has something to do with Ciaran and if it comes out it might just destroy the man.

This is very much a page turning you will not want to put it down and will stay up late at night. I myself found things to do around the house and even listened on my lunch break which I keep for reading books only. The author puts in just a little romance but I feel sure things will get very hot and heavy for these two. I am left wondering just as Madeline if she really is psychic and just what is everyone after that it is worth killing lots of people over. This is not a standalone book to get the answers you must listen/read to all 4 of them. Believe me you will be hooked for sure by the time you finish book 1 you will want to dive into book 2. If you are looking for a very different kind of read but really a very good story with a wonderful plot you should pick this up and give it a try.

A Good Book

What made the experience of listening to Random Psychic the most enjoyable?

The ability of the narrator to bring the characters to lifevv

Who was your favorite character and why?

Madelyn she goes through a lot of emotions

Have you listened to any of Catherine Edwards’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Not that I'm aware of.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No

Any additional comments?

My one complaint about the book is it didn't conclude the story but rather you have to get the next book to find out what happens to Joe. I don't care for this because it pushes you into the next book.

Just as great to listen to as it was to read

I really enjoyed the narration. The narrator did a fine job of doing different cadences and voices for different people . I really like listening to it the Bluetooth in my car on the way to work and back home. I will listen to other books in this series.

Shaded for sure

I love the twists and turns in this story. The Author opened many doors, right after she closed one. Story was easy to follow and never once did I feel lost. Even with all that was going on.. I will tell you that you might as well get the books that follow. This is not a stand alone book .

It's Magic

I was given this book for an honest review.

At first I had trouble following the storyline because the chapters did not seem to start where the previous ended. But once you got the jest of what was happening it flowed. I think this would have been a better story without the blue dots. A lot of assumptions are left to be worked out as to who was doing a lot of the killings. There were times when I laughed at certain sections. I would read the next book to find out how it continues.

A Fun Quick Read

Any additional comments?

A great listen and well written story that kept me hooked. The narrator was excellent and really brought the story to life. I don’t usually listen to books in this category, but will be looking for more from this author in the future.

not great

The story is juvenile. Characters are emotionally childish. Lacks intensity. Performance acceptable considering content.
