Publisher's Summary

Sir Manual Camargue had just announced his intention of taking a second wife, 50 years his junior. On the same cold winter's day, he died as a result of what was surely a tragic accident. But Wexford doubts that Camargue's death came by misadventure.

One of the Best Mysteries I Have Ever Read

What did you love best about Put on by Cunning?

The end was so simple, and so obvious, yet it had never occurred to me. Truly a brilliant who done it.

Deliciously Complex Mystery

Where does Put on by Cunning rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Above average - usual great writing and plot by Ruth Rendell.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Put on by Cunning?

Loved when English Inspector Wexford visited California and I could see America through his eyes.

Did the narration match the pace of the story?

Yes, although the narration was the weak point in the overall listening experience.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes.

Any additional comments?

The British narrator did the WORST version of an American accent I've ever heard. Literally laughable. I bookmarked the section so my sister could hear it and laugh along with me.All the Californians sounded like... I don't even know. Hillbillies? I understand there's another version under the American titled Death Notes and narrated by the always fabulous Davina Porter. That might be a better choice.
