Publisher's summary

John Barrett, anchorman for News Six at Five, has a problem. He's caught his producer skewing a story to suit her own prejudices, then lying to cover her tracks. The "accidental" death of John's father is also now in question, after the father's controversial testimony. And a young girl has been murdered, and John is the only one who can prove it.

A Very Good Listen

If you do any research into the books Peretti writes you will have no confusion as to the subject matter. CHRISTIAN author.

Personally I find it a very refreshing book and enjoyed it throughly. I found it hard to stop listening when I arrived at my destination. I wish all the Peretti books were unabridged.

Awesome :)

I really appreciated the aspect of this story because it crosses all lines. I could see the charters clearly and had several people in my life that i could see doing the very same things, also it was real and funny. People are funny and we all get caught up in stuff and I laughed several times. Another fine book by one of my favorite authors!!

Good but not Peretti's best

Prophet had a great premise and a good start, but I wasn't real happy about the ending. I thought the themes it addressed were great: abortion, political corruption, and the influence of the media. But the excitement that I usually get from a Peretti story wasn't there for me. I would say his best are probably This Present Darkness, Peircing the Darkness, and Monster.

An Amazing Story: Narrator Lacking

If you could sum up Prophet in three words, what would they be?

I would sum this up with the phrase, "Amazing Story: Narrator?"

What did you like best about this story?

Frank Peretti captured the struggle of the characters life wondrously.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

The narrator placed far too much emphasis on acting out different characters voices, and selected a hill-billy voice for the prophet, which was not how I would have imagined him.

Any additional comments?

This is a great story and is worth listening to despite the weaknesses of the narrator.

Prophet

As always Frank Peretti delivered a very engaging novel. I lost momentum with the character at times when he started to experience prophetic visions but the overall concept was very good. Also I would like to have known the results of the work that was done by all those striving to bring about truth and justice to the situation at hand.

Misleading

If you're into a marathon abortion debate, this is your book. Who knew? Adding to the discomfort the topic creates when listening, the narration is one of the poorest I've endured. I wish there had been a more accurate description of the plot in the publisher's summary, which upon reading, the book seemed really interesting. But sadly, the summary is not remotely close to what the book is all about.

Narrator souded mechanical at first, but improved.

I had been listening to Frank Peretti narrating his own books, so this narrator took some getting used to. He sounded mechanical at first, but gradually began to sound like he was enjoying the story. It made the last two-thirds of the book a pleasure to listen to.

Great Book

Story line was great. Some reviews were negative because they thought it was pro life. I feel it was very accurate and didn't touch the pro life issue but the dangers. Some characters voices could have been better.

so real

Love this book... it unveils the truth about the realities of the news and the pressures within and without. Frank has once again helped us to think beyond our own imagination.

Hold onto your seats, folks!

A gripping tale; I had to force myself to stop reading to eat and talk to other people.
