Publisher's Summary

When linguist Andrew Dennison is yanked from his bed by the Secret Service and taken to a top secret facility in the desert, he has no idea he's been brought there to translate the words of an ancient demon.
He joins pretty but cold veterinarian Sun Jones, eccentric molecular biologist Dr. Frank Belgium, and a hodge-podge of religious, military, and science personnel to try and figure out if the creature is, indeed, Satan.
But things quickly go bad, and very soon Andy isn't just fighting for his life, but the lives of everyone on earth…

This book is just fun. It is a fast fun read. I must agree that it is no Michael Crichton or Daniel Suarez. There is plenty to think about, and some twists and lots of action. They do mention computers and cells and The Origin of Life. Yes, the characters are shallow. Suarez and Crichton are not know for their in depth character development. If you want to get real serious, don't go here. If you want something you understand and which is scary, than this will work. Suarez and Crichton are two of my favorites and so is Konrath, all for different reasons.
Luke Daniels does a great job as usual.

what a trip

There were so many points at which this book could have gone horribly, crashingly wrong. To my amazement, it never did, and I enjoyed the hell out of it. Literature for the ages, this is not. But it's ontologically whacked, it's crazy fun, it's bite-your-nails exciting! And Luke Daniels does a fine job with the narration. Definitely recommended to take the edge off the the pain of the current political primaries.
