Publisher's Summary

Here's the latest spine-tingling murder case for Detective Superintendent Roy Grace - from the best-selling author of Dead Simple and Looking Good Dead. On the night Brian Bishop murdered his wife, he was 60 miles away, asleep in bed. At least, that's the way it looks to Detective Superintendent Roy Grace, who is called in to investigate the kinky slaying of beautiful young Brighton socialite Katie Bishop.
Soon, Grace starts coming to the conclusion that Bishop has performed the apparently impossible feat of being in two places at once. Has someone stolen his identity, or is he simply a very clever liar?
As Grace digs deeper behind the facade of the Bishops' outwardly respectable lives, it starts to become clear that all is not at all as it first seemed. And then he digs just a little too far, and suddenly the fragile stability of his own troubled, private world is facing destruction.

Critic Reviews

"Neil Pearson, who is establishing quite a niche for himself reading British detective-fiction, does a convincingly matter-of-fact job with Grace (an intuitive copper with an enigmatic backstory) and a supporting cast of Brighton low-lifes." ( Sunday Times Audio Book of the Week)

My long-lasting love of crime drama has encouraged a recent interest in crime fiction. I did a little research and found out that Peter James is one of the most popular/best crime writers around. I am working my way through the DS Roy Grace series and agree that Mr James knows how to write a gripping crime novel. Particularly enjoyed abridged version and Neil Pearson's excellent narration.

I love the unusual scenarios, the established and evolving relationships particularly the one between Grace and his colleague Branson.

good copper

Nicely plotted and read. A good listen but uses a plot line that is pretty obvious from the start even with its extra twist. Very visual descriptions-you could see this guy going straight onto the small screen. All the usual character cliches but these are cops you get to like.
