Publisher's summary

San Francisco crime reporter Tom Reed is burned out. On the day he decides to finally quit the news business, a sensational story breaks. A heart-stopping robbery-homicide at a jewelry store. The suspects have shot and killed a police officer before fleeing with a female hostage.

Reed rushes to the scene, his passion resurrected for one last big story. Arriving at the chaos, Reed is stunned to learn from a staff member, still clutching a receipt, that the hostage is his wife, Ann Reed. Horrified, Reed confronts San Francisco Homicide Inspector Walt Sydowski and other detectives on the case. All know the odds. Reed is paralyzed with anguish, but his son, Zach, refuses to give up hope of finding his mother, despite the grisly trail left by the killers. Now the clock is ticking down as Reed battles his demons and Sydowski in a life and death search for Ann.

Rick Mofina writes wonderful suspense thrillers!!

No Way Back is the 4th novel in the reporter Tom Reed and and cop Walt Sydowski aeries by Rick Mofina. First released in 2003 No Way Back is also Mofina's 4th novel. Few authors are as successful at building suspense to the point it becomes nerve-racking as Mofina; Mofina achieves sustained nail-biting suspense in all of his six novels I have read thus far. The publisher's summary sets up No Way Back perfectly. Narrator Christian Rummel makes this great novel even better. Despite his normal baritone-like voice he is able to give each character his or her own voice. His ability to credibly do female and children's voices is remarkable.

Those who have not yet discovered the wonderful suspense novels of Rick Mofina are in for a treat. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!

Talented Author, Impeccable Narrator

The Audible summary is spot on. Mofina is molding his characters a bit so it will be interesting to see where he is going with these character adjustments.

The story is well thought out. It progresses nicely. It holds one’s interest. It wasn’t edge of your seat suspense. It was a more relaxed suspense that was being woven as it unfolded. Definitely worth a credit.

Wow, if you are looking for a fast, fantastic story, this is it. You never know how it is going to end and how the kidnapers can be caught. Will definitely be reading more in this series. The narration is excellent.

Jewelry Heist and Kidnapped Wife

The LAST thing crime reporter, Tom Reed expected on his LAST assignment is to find his wife kidnapped. On the day he tried to submit his resignation to his boss at the San Francisco Star, he was sent, instead to the scene of a jewelry shop robbery. When Tom saw the name on the pick-up ticket of the woman who was kidnapped, his heart fell . . . it was Ann Reed, his wife. At the end of his rope and getting no where in finding Ann, Tom was about to give up. But Zach their nine-year son, refused to give up on finding his mother. Reed and Homicide Detective Walt Sydowski race against time to find Ann as the treachery continues. Great listen

No Way Back

Long, drawn out, tedious ad nauseam, repetitive and definitely a struggle to finish. Blasphemous language.
