Nerve Damage

Very well thought out plot line, well devoloped characters, good narration. The ending, to me however, seemed cut short, that is my reason for only 4 of 5. The story line was very unique. Worth the money, if you've completed reading all your favorites and want a change of pace.

Great plot, some dialogue issues...

This was the first Peter Abrahams book I've read. I was not disappointed because the storyline was excellent. There was action, excitement, sympathy, and a range of emotions prompted by this book. The only negative thing I can say is that the dialogue was horribly repetitive in several places. Characters tended to ask a question or give a statement, then the other character would always repeat the last word as a question. I started to not look forward to the strict dialogue scenes, but I don't know if it would have come across the same way reading it instead of listening.

Uncertain

I purchased this not really knowing much about the author. I found the plot to be interesting, but the dialog exceptionally dull. The dialog is so poorly written that the protagonist comes off as being developmentally disabled and yet you know he's not. As the plot develops this conflict between your belief that he is an intelligent man and dialog makes him sound the opposite becomes irritating.

Not bad - Not great

This was my first Audible listen. Worth the $8 introductory credit, but not something I'm going to rave about. Competently written, well-narrated, but no virtuosity. I kept me interested, although in retrospect the sideline story is a quite lengthy gimmick.

The sideline is that the protagonist is dying from mesothelioma contracted from asbestos he naievely worked and played with in a blue collar job he had years before he became a famous metal sculptor.

The sideline is also competently written and woven into the story, but, in retrospect, the equivalent of Hamburger Helper.

3 days ago and I can't remember the book.

How do you like that. I'm trying to think of the subject of the book: nerve damage and I'm having a hard ass time let me think fuck it was that memorable?
