Narrator sounds like she's "reading"
No. I really like these stories, but the narrator sounds like she's reading the book to us. She's very stiff and formal. I suppose I am spoiled because Xe Sands is one of my most favorite narrators (she would have been PERFECT for this series). Ms. Sands is very casual, relaxed and sounds like she's just talking to us. Ms, Boyce should listen to some of her books and then re-think how she narrates.
I think if I were READING this series instead of LISTENING....it would be Aunt Jackie. But in the audio version Aunt Jackie sounds curt and rude, as if everything has to be her way or no way, no middle ground. Even when she's trying to portray "affection" for her niece, she sounds snobby and uppity.
Well, made me sad that it could have come off better with a different narrator or just more life into the narration. Ms. Boyce is so stiff, dull and EXACT.
This will be the last series I listen to with Ms. Boyce as the narrator. Sorry!
