Four years ago, Arlen Quill was found dead in the entryway to his apartment building - leaving no clues, no witnesses, and no leads. When Jane decides to interview Quill’s old neighbors, she makes a startling discovery: Every single occupant at the time of the murder subsequently disappeared. Like any seasoned New Yorker, Jane knows that mere homicide isn’t enough to drive people from their rent-controlled apartments. Sorry--couldn't bring myself to finish listening
Well, this book seemed to have a lot of appeal--the plot sounded interesting, I love books of this sort, and so I settled in to listen. I'll make this short. The writing was tedious--I checked out shortly after listening to an incredibly boring inventory of everything each officer went to a cabinet and took to put into their desks before beginning their work on a cold case. Details add a lot to a book, but not those just added as useless fillers. The narration was flat and bland. Wish I could say more, I never feel very good writing a review that doesn't find something to compliment. And towards that end, I think the premise of the book is interesting--and it might be much better in it's written version. I think I could maybe find it more engaging in that format.
