Both murders, 64 years apart, shocked the nation and sparked sensational trials and crushing media coverage throughout England. Edgar Lustgarten navigates the listener through myriad historical facts and crime evidence with gripping clarity; leaving the guilt of both women in doubt.
This 1889 trial of a woman accused of poisoning her husband featured forensic evidence and a great lawyer for the defence. The Trial of Mrs Merryfield
In 1953, a plain, homely, middle-aged woman was accused of poisoning for profit. This trial reached a very satisfactory verdict (says Lustgarten), based partly on evidence concerning the action of yellow phosphorus.

This is my third one
I have brought all of these Famous Trials, and this one is my third one. I had not heard of these cases, and found them interesting enough. What I like about these books is that you learn about the Judges, Defence and Prosecution, more than the actual criminals or victims.
The narration is very fitting and suits the style of the book.
