Publisher's summary

Some people think Hawaii is paradise, but Monk knows that danger, like dirt, lurks everywhere. Look at Helen Gruber, the rich tourist who took a fatal blow from a coconut. The police say it fell from a tree, but Monk suspects otherwise. His assistant Natalie isn't exactly thrilled about Monk's latest investigation. It was bad enough Monk followed her on vacation, and now it looks like the vacation is over.

Delightful listen

If you haven't heard a MONK audiobook yet, this one is quite delightful.
The story is is plotted out well.
The narrator does a good job.
The only reason I give this book a 4 stars instead of 5 is the over use of the word "said", but that might just be me.

If you like MONK the series, or the other MONK novels, you will have fun listening to this installment.

Might be better if you haven't seen the show

The actual plot was decent, but I thought the narration was pretty terrible. Maybe it's because I've watched the entire series on tv. Some stuff seemed out of character for both Monk and Natalie to be saying or doing.

The Monk

What made the experience of listening to Mr. Monk Goes to Hawaii the most enjoyable?

Definitely Monks alter ego when he's on meds.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Monk, his antics have me in stitches. He like a modern day Sherlock Holmes - with issues.

Which character – as performed by Laura Hicks – was your favorite?

The Cop when he was going in and out of the pigeon speak and his reaction to Monk and his odd ways.

Hilarious & entertaining

Most TV scripts don't covert well to the written page, this does wonderfully. Like any good detective book, this even added aspects where the reader could find the flaws in evidence before the great Monkish unravelling!!

just like the show. Funny and nostalgic for me. The stories are free and entertaining. A rarity these days.

Monk 2

More Monk wackiness. Quirky, eccentric and gentle, Adrian Monk has a strange Hawaiian vacation.

Laura Hicks' narration is excellent.

Not quite right

While I loved the TV show Monk, I’m not a big fan of these books. Lee Goldberg has a certain style and has put a spin on the characters I know and love. If you’re okay with Natalie having a secret bitchy side and hearing about people’s breasts this is the book for you.

Mr Monk Takes Drugs

I liked this story overall. Fun to see Mr Monk in a different setting. I like how kind he is to Natalie. I was confused how he solved the murder and there was still 2 hours left but was pleased with the ending!
