Publisher's summary

Maggie Flynn's simple country wedding in West Virginia's enchanting Canaan Valley is everything her aunts hoped for, and Andrea Flynn and Kathleen Williamson are looking forward to a joyful weekend celebration. Murder is the last thing on anyone's mind, but when one guest has multiple enemies present, it becomes a reality. Poison in a late-night cup of tea proves fatal, and it's obvious that plenty of family members and their friends have reason to want the victim dead.

When a second murder occurs, members of the wedding party become even more certain that a killer is stalking the halls of the Alpenhof Hotel where they're staying. Andrea and Kathleen join forces with Sheriff Ward Sterling to figure out who's killing the guests in this quiet mountain resort. And there are clues - or are they just red herrings? A book of poetry, a flower garden, and artificial fingernails are among the discoveries the sisters discuss with the sheriff. They're hoping the investigation won't put their lives in danger, but security at the hotel is lax and door locks are flimsy. If the sisters can dig up enough clues, maybe they can solve the puzzle before the killer takes aim at them. However, at bedtime they're bracing their door with the back of a chair, just in case.

2nd Book and Still Loving it!

This is the second book in this series. I loved the previous one and wondered if this one would measure up with regards to the narrator and the plot. It, also, kept me engrossed and the ending was just as surprising! So far I am highly recommending it. Nice and clean so that even teenagers can read it.

Weddings are murder!

Moonlight Mayhem is #2 in the Moonlight mystery series by Helen Haught Fanick. Maggie and Andrea go to the Alpenhof Hotel in West Virginia for their niece Maggie’s wedding to Stephan, the hotel owner). Guests come for the wedding from all over, including Stephan’s family who come from Europe. After the wedding, someone gets poisoned, then another murder occurs! The guests can’t leave until the murder is solved! The narration by Paula Faye Leinweber is very good.

Great West Virginia Mystery

This second in the Moon Mystery Series is so much fun. I can't believe that more people haven't discovered this author and this series. The narration is perfect 😊 I love the people in the story, and if you've ever driven through the mountains and valleys of West Virginia, you will appreciate how these folks feel about their small town. The southern humor and accents are wonderful. I had to laugh as the two sisters, Andrea and Kathleen, who are as different as night and day, try to discover who killed the older Casanova. (It seems that all the ladies had a history with him, adding to the suspects.) One of the sisters is looking for a new place to hike and the other is thinking about what's for dinner 😂 Good thing that Sheriff Ward Sterling welcomes the help. With the newlyweds already off on their honeymoon, the guests still in the lodge, its anyone's guess how long it will take to find the murderer.

Great mystery and characters

If you liked the 1st book, you'll love this one. This picks up right where the last left off. Some new characters, and a new murder to investigate. Can't wait to finish the 3rd.

love the characters!

The narration has improved so much from the first book. I love the characters and the elderly sisters remind me of a couple of elderly women I know. This is a wonderful series.

An enjoyable read

This is the 2nd book in a series involving two retired sisters, some of their family and a Lodge where murders seem to happen every time they visit. I find these books enjoyable to listen to and the narrator did an excellent job. I highly recommend this series. If you like clean, well scripted, murder mysteries that involve women of a certain age who are intelligent and likable then you'll enjoy these books!

Wedding in Canaan Valley

This is the second in the series. I thought the narrator did a good job to enhance the story. She used many different inflections to portray the various characters.

There was more than one killing. Laslow, the uncle of Stefan and his once business partner are killed in their rooms in the Alpenhof Inn. Our amateur sleuths are assisting Chief Ward with the investigation. I found the relationship with the law a pleasant and refreshing experience. Most cozy mysteries have an antagonistic relationship between the police and the sleuth(s).

Loved the twists, turns and sometimes the simplicity in the characters. This not to say they are your stereotypical southern West Virginia folks.
So, our sleuths are trying to link the murders and it takes some doing to find a common denominator.

Looking forward to book 3.

A wedding and deadly tea

Moonlight Mayhem is Book 2 of the Moon Mystery Series by Helen Taught Fanick. I truly enjoyed this audio book. The story is very entertaining and th end murder mystery is good. Andrea and Kathleen are preparing for their niece's wedding. Maggie and Stephan are getting married and his family has come for the ceremony. Unfortunately, v that night after the bride and groom have left for the honeymoon, an uncle is murdered and everyone is suspect. Paula Faye Leinweber does an outstanding performance bringing Moonlight Mayhem to life. This cozy mystery is very good with clues to find the murderer. But, just as the Sheriff is closing in on the murderer, he/she is closing in on another victim. I can't wait to listen to the next book in the series... they just keep getting better!

I enjoy the narrator

The story is an easy cozy mystery from the perspective of a sweet older lady who just feels exactly like a favorite great aunt. The sound quality was significantly improved since the first book

interesting

Kudos for mentioning Ben Rehder, as I'm a huge fan of his books and humor. I found it ironic that the civilian slueth was finding all the clues the law enforcement overlooked. Sad revelation. I voluntarily listened to a free copy of this and am giving an honest review. The narrator did a good job bringing it to life.
