Publisher's summary

Nothing is ever what it seems-including me.

The Midwest Pack has three goals: Protect the pack. Protect the pack. And yeah, protect the pack.

I have my own goal: Live a simple life and hope no one ever discovers that the quiet young woman next door turns into a wolf.

All my efforts go up in flames when a vampire attack draws the attention of the Midwest Pack. The next thing I know, I'm staring down Ethan, a handsome and alluring alpha, as he demands to know what I am. Not who. What. The pack was warned that I'm not just a werewolf but a weapon-one that could be used against them.

A weapon? Me? I'd love to dismiss it as a case of mistaken identity, but I've become the supernaturals' Most Wanted overnight. The vampires have put a bounty on my head. A necromancer attempts to kill me in a room full of people. And a mysterious witch is watching me far too closely for comfort.

The only thing standing between me and certain death is the pack, but we're definitely not on the same page. I want to lie low, go back to my typical life, and live to fight another day, while their MO is "seek, confront, and destroy."

And depending on the answers we find, the enemy they destroy...might be me.

Narrator is painful

Luckily I tend to purchase both the digital and audio versions of a book at the same time! When I first started listening to this book, I didn’t know if it was the writer or the reader that made the book so hard to listen to. After spending time reading the book, I now know the problem is Not the author - it is the narrator. The delivery is completely flat and uninvolved - painfully so. Please do not waste your money on the audio version, it hurts to listen to it.

Story impacted by malapropism

Example... Decor is not decorum... correct verbiage is more impactful, much as smaller words suffice and sometimes even enhance the listeners enjoyment of the story. The mental faculties required to untangle Brobdingnagian words is immense, particularly when you simply want to listen or read a good story. I like my dictionary, but don't want to read with it.

Lots of twists and turns

This book was blurry interesting, I didn’t expect it to go the way it did and look forward to seeing the next pet of the adventure

I loved this book

I've read the whole series, including the ones from his point of view and the characters are wonderfully flawed but perfect in their own imperfect way.

Good story, bad narration

The story isn't anything "groundbreaking" but it's interesting and engaging throughout. My biggest problem was J.Marie's slow and drab performance. There's no inclination and the parts she tries to sound wistful or sensual terms into a dry slow tone that puts one to sleep. You won't be able to tell fight scenes from sensual ones from just descriptions of scenery.

eh

I like the story and I think if I read the book myself I would have been addicted but the readers, nasal voice, over pronunciation and her monotone voice through what should have been exciting parts killed it for me
