Publisher's summary

The 19th installment of the beloved and New York Times best-selling Miss Julia series

With her husband, Sam, off on a trip to Europe, Miss Julia takes a pause to reflect on the past few decades - realizing how the comforts and joys of her life can sometimes give way to boredom. Miss Julia reckons it's about time to roll up her sleeves and be of some use to her community. She's just considering how to get involved when she hears that the nosy do-gooder Madge Taylor and the new pastor Rucker are embarking on a mission to buy up the vacant house down the street from Miss Julia and establish a group home for wayward teenagers.

No stranger to taking in the down-and-out herself, Miss Julia is shocked to learn Madge and the pastor never consulted her or anyone else in the neighborhood about their project - only a board of the church's congregants who don't live in the neighborhood, all instructed to keep the project a secret. Hazel Marie and Miss Julia's fears are confirmed when they start investigating and find that Madge and her board of busybodies plan to proceed without much care for how to manage the home after they've built it or whether it will be built to code in the first place - never mind that the house itself is ill suited for a bunch of teenagers to be living in it, barely supervised.

Miss Julia must band together with friends and neighbors to take on nosy Madge and her steamrolling plans while still being helpful to those in need in another entertaining installment of Ann B. Ross' best-selling series.

disappointed at first

We have a group foster home in our neighborhood and there have been few issues. I was surprised that Julia and Hazel Marie would object, but was pleased that Lloyd lead the way to understanding the needs of the boys.

Miss Julia says what most people only think!

I love all of the Miss Julia books but this one made me clap outloud! From the start of this book I was wondering where it was going to lead. I have to say I am very, very pleased Ms. Ross had the guts to write what most people truly think. Do good for others, help those who need it, but in our country we have laws for a reason. Compassion cannot trump the laws and rules of our society. We have to consider all involved not just ourselves and what we want. thus is what makes us a civil society.

Ann B Ross "Delivers the Goods"!!!!!

Where does Miss Julia Raises the Roof rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

What does Cynthia Darlow bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Cynthia Darlow's narration truly brings Ann Ross' character to life.

Any additional comments?

Don't miss this one, Miss Julia fans! Another excellent story, superbly written, beautifully narrated, again! LOVE IT! LOVE IT! LOVE IT! Thank you Miss Ann! Thank you Miss Cynthia! A delightful listen! I waited a year for this to come out. I hope the next one is not another year's wait!!!!! I simply love Ann Ross' writing and the characters in the Miss Julia series.

Delightful as usual.

I LOVE Miss Julia. I had accidentally missed the one from 2 books back so I had 2 to listen to. But I still want more. They are funny, full of times gone by politeness, and common sense. The author just knows how the deep south of the past was even though they are written in our times. Please write more and write them fast. I thought it might have been fun if Julia had gone to Europe with Sam.

One of the Best

Lots of intrigue and plot twists. Small town life at it’s best and worst. Lots of familiar characters. Loved this one!

Loved it!

This was one of her best. Probably because I was walking thru similar circumstances and it helped me to watch Miss Julia deal with her own heart as she attempted to follow her faith and deal with people! Sure wish Miss Ross would crank out 2 per year! I just keep re listening till the next one comes out!!

Miss Julia is awesome!

Still loving this series. I love the “down home” feel of Abbotsville and the residents!

Always An Adventure

So glad there is a Miss Julia series. She makes me forgot a bad day. She has more problems than I do. Love Miss Julia!
