I loved the original Nocturne Falls series so much, I just had to listen to the new series. It's everything you come to expect from Kristen Painter! A well written story that's clean, funny, full of suspense, and of course a cat!
Kristen takes us on another visit to Nocturne Falls for an adventure with Jayne Frost, the Winter princess, who goes undercover to investigate why employees are quitting and disappearing from Santa's Workshop.
When Jayne arrives in Nocturne Falls, we are introduced to new characters, while running into a few old friends. In addition, to these new characters, we get to see a different side of Nocturne Fall; a slightly darker side. With each new story, Kristen expertly develops both the characters and town to the point they appear real and tangible. The stories are so well written, you can easily visualize each scene, learn something new about the characters and town, and get lost in a good story.
I really enjoyed listening to this book, and will be on the lookout for future stories; however, it's definitely different from the PNR Nocturne Falls stories we are used to listening too. This is truly a detective story, with no romantic HEA's, and is told from Jayne's POV. We follow Jayne as she secretly investigates the missing employees, meets new friends, goes on dates, and solves the case.
While I missed B.J. Harrison narrations, this is a new series so it makes sense to go with a different narrator and Hollis McCarthy did a great job! While this is the first audiobook I've listened to by her, she did an awesome job on the voices and each main character had their own voice and was easily identified.
Besides getting used to the new narrator, and not having the romantic HEA, this was a great mystery and evil villain.
If you are a fan of the Nocturne Falls series, this story is a great addition to your collection
