Mary Rose is author Geoffrey Girard's chilling and modern take on a classic ghost story originally written by J. M. Barrie. And, for years, master of suspense Alfred Hitchcock attempted to adapt Mary Rose into a film but was never successful. With this novel, Girard taps into the nightmarish fears that inspired both Barrie and Hitchcock, while also bringing the story to the present day with his own unique voice.

Interesting ghost story.

Modern take on literary ghost story disappoints
Mary Rose is touted as a scary literary thriller with complex elements of the supernatural. I was unconvinced. The story dragged on and on, an story though there were a few frightening moments, overall, I couldn’t get into the story. Even Meier’s narration was slow-going, and while her attempt at the American accent for the fiancé/husband were admirable, it didn’t cut it for me, and i generally rate her as a great narrator. I wish I liked it more, but it’s a slog to get through and I can’t recommend it.
