Publisher's Summary

The ghosts of a 1925 multiple murder stalk Doc Ford in the electrifying new novel in the New York Times best-selling series.
Doc Ford has been involved in many strange cases. This may be one of the strangest.
A legendary charter captain and guide named Tootsie Barlow has come to him, muttering about a curse. The members of his extended family have suffered a bizarre series of attacks, and Barlow is convinced it has something to do with a multiple murder in 1925, in which his family had a shameful part.
Ford doesn't believe in curses, but as he and his friend Tomlinson begin to investigate, following the trail of the attacks from Key Largo to Tallahassee, they, too, suffer a series of near-fatal mishaps. Is it really a curse? Or just a crime spree? The answer lies in solving a near-hundred-year-old murder and probing the mind of a madman.

Another great one

I always enjoy Doc Ford books, and this one is no exception. You can expect many twists and turns as always. The combo of Randy Wayne White and George Guidall can't be beat.

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

Its time for Doc Ford to disappear into the sunset. The author has lost his ability to create believable adventures for Doc. I know his feats are super human but not beyond reality like the weird, psycho, unworldly character(s) in the main plot. The secondary plot had possibilities but was not developed.

What does George Guidall bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Mr Guidall is always able to make different characters seem distinct with his voice

What character would you cut from Mangrove Lightning?

All the crazy, supernatural degenerates

Any additional comments?

I think I have read or listened to all the Doc Ford novels but the last 2 or 3 have not been up to par. I will not be listening to any more Doc Ford adventures.
