Publisher's Summary

When editor Susan Ryeland is given the tattered manuscript of Alan Conway's latest novel, she has little idea it will change her life. She's worked with the revered crime writer for years, and his detective, Atticus Pund, is renowned for solving crimes in the sleepy English villages of the 1950s.
As Susan knows only too well, vintage crime sells handsomely. It's just a shame that it means dealing with an author like Alan Conway....
But Conway's latest tale of murder at Pye Hall is not quite what it seems. Yes, there are dead bodies and a host of intriguing suspects, but hidden in the pages of the manuscript there lies another story: a tale written between the very words on the page, telling of real-life jealousy, greed, ruthless ambition and murder.
From Sunday Times best seller Anthony Horowitz comes Magpie Murders, his deliciously dark take on the vintage crime novel, brought bang up to date with a fiendish modern twist.
Read by Samantha Bond and Allan Corduner.

Good book but lacking in some areas.

Loved the reveal of the killlers but how they were being investigated lacked substance and evidence.

Anthony Horowitz Does it Again!!! 🙆‍♂️🙆‍♂️

This book was amazing!!! A classic whodunnit and i didn't realize the ending till it slapped me in the face 😂. At first, i was a bit unsure about the book. The characters seemed to be increasing and i was scared i wouldn't have been able to keep up. But knowing Horowitz, i knew he wouldn't disappoint.

I was a big fan of his Alex Rider series and am glad he his taking his prowess and writing new books.

The narrators were also highly entertaining...especially Samantha. This was truly an enjoyable listen and would recommend it to anyone. Am now going to buy the paperback 😄.

Who? How? Where & Why?

Now listen to A LOT of audio books, but I rarely write a review.
I know Anthony Horowitz from all his teen books and was not sure what to expect from this.
The story was excellent and I kept up with the twists and turns but a no point did I guess......
The double story line is very good and I could easily be converted to this type of story if there are more like this.
Allan and Samantha as narrators were excellent!
5 stars all round.

Wonderful for any murder mystery fans

Excellent murder mystery. Plenty of twists to keep you hooked right to the end! Starts out very 'Agatha Christie-ish' but then deviates in a very unexpected way. Lovely narration too.

Two mysteries in one, it can't get any better!

This book was in my recommended listens since I enjoy a good crime story and I thought I'd give it a go, the overview sounded promising. I always enjoyed a good "who'd done it" and this one didn't disappoint. It has a smart modern crime story and a classic British detective in one. Loved the twists, narration and pace. Will definitely keep an eye out for this author in the future.

So very witty and tricky

Look this book is so clever, it twists, it turns and it takes the micky. The readers are brilliant and catch the tone so well. It is very long but so worth the wait and I laughed out loud when at the end I was informed who the publisher is - you will get the joke, it is very cheeky. Well done Mr Horowitz
