Publisher's Summary

When Arly's mother, the indomitable Ruby Bee Hanks, is invited to a baking contest in New York, Arly is forced to return to the city she hates - and the Big Apple is even more rotten than she remembered. Ruby Bee has hardly preheated her oven when a naked man is found shot in her bedroom and the NYPD throws her in jail. As tempting as it may be to let her mother rot on Rikers Island, Arly has no choice but to solve the case herself, facing down killers, bakers, and the most dangerous villain of all: her ex-husband.

Disappointed with the Scooby-Do ending.

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

Maybe not. The story started out interesting but the ending was hurried up, gather all together and have a quick reveal without a good explanation of how the ending was reached. What I've heard others refer to as a "Scooby-Do ending".

Would you recommend Maggody in Manhattan to your friends? Why or why not?

I would not recommend this book as I don't think it was a good as others in the series.

What about Kristin Kalbli’s performance did you like?

I really like Kristin Kalbil's performance as the voice of the Maggoty series. I bought another Maggoty audible book read by C.J. Critt and I returned it as the narrator was so awful. Why the switch in narrators? Especially to one with a monotone. I cancelled all read by C.J. Critt from my list.

Was Maggody in Manhattan worth the listening time?

I don't think so. It was a bit confusing with all the changes of characters and locations. Especially, when they occurred with hardly a breath taken, sort of like a run-on sentence, and added nothing to the story.

Any additional comments?

I think it was a huge mistake the change narrators. Kristin Kalbil's performances in the books I've read in this series was well done and her different voices and accents made the stories.
