Publisher's summary

The latest blockbuster from the number one best-selling author of Remember Me and I'll Be Seeing You

Beauty has its price....

Kerry McGrath had only begun to work in the county prosecutor's office at the time of the infamous "Sweetheart Murder Case" - the bizarre slaying years ago of strikingly beautiful Suzanne Reardon. Now, 10 years later, Kerry has gained a reputation as a smart and relentless prosecutor - so much so that her name has been given to the governor as a candidate for a new judgeship - and her new life and career are in full swing.

But Kerry's plans are turned upside down when her daughter Robin is injured in a car accident, requiring treatment from a well-known plastic surgeon. It is in his office that Kerry first encounters a beautiful face she remembers from her past but can't quite place - until she realizes that this angelic face is a troubling link to the "Sweetheart" case. When she starts asking questions, she soon discovers that everyone involved wants the case to remain closed...and will stop at nothing to keep it that way.

A terrifying look into a mind obsessed with beauty, Let Me Call You Sweetheart is America's Queen of Suspense at the very top of her form.

Marvelous suspense thriller!

Author Mary Higgins Clark is a national treasure as a uniquely talented story teller. She released her first in 1968 and released her 51st this year at age 90. This suspense thriller was released in 1995. It's the story of prosecutor Kerry McGrath who is convinced that a man convicted 11 years earlier of killing his wife is innocent. At great risk to her legal career and personal safety, and the safety of her young daughter, she decides she must prove the man's innocence. Like with most of her novels, Mary Higgins Clark comes up with a great plot twist at the end. Narration is excellent.

I hesitate to call this a legal thriller because there is no courtroom drama.

Good book

Good story. Unfortunately I really did not enjoy the narrator. I felt like she was reading me a children’s book.
Glad I finished the book.

We aren’t 5

Why does this narrator read as if she’s reading to a group of children?!
This is such a great book with a dark plot, so this narrator really did a poor job of relaying the chilling storyline.

Excellent book and narrator!

A very good intriguing book with lots of twists and turns. The narrator is excellent and does both female and male voices very well

Disturbing subject matter but a great read!

This one kept you guessing. Just when I thought I had it figured out there was a twist or turn. Good subject matter and scarily something that could actually take place.

Not my favorite narrator - just okay.

Read is a great one!

Love MHC forever!

Mary Higgins Clark is one of my fave writers and I will miss being able to look forward to another new book from her. She had an ability to make such diverse story lines! But thankfully books can be reread, and I discover a new tidbit every time I reread.

As for C. J. Critt, I have heard her in other books where I simply loved her! It took me a bit of time to be comfortable with her in this one. I did love her where Carrie and Bob confront one another. Her voice was absolutely perfect to convey the contemptuousness Carrie obviously feels for him.

Hard to follow

There are so many characters who are sporadically introduced throughout a story that it is very difficult to follow the storyline. Unfortunately, I felt lost until the end of the book.

Solid

The narrator was pleasant to listen to. Although, there was a lot of characters and it sometimes it was hard to keep them all straight. But I may have been distracted now and again as I listen to them a lot in the car. But I always love her books.
