Publisher's summary

Ox and Judy are off to Alaska on a honeymoon cruise and invite Walt and Maggie to tag along.

Their vacation plans are soon shipwrecked by the murder of two fellow passengers.

The murders appear to be linked to a century-old legend involving a cache of gold stolen from a prospector and buried by two thieves.

Their seven day cruise is spent hunting for the gold and eluding the modern day thieves intent on possessing it at any cost.

Another nail-biting mystery that will have you on the edge of your seat one minute and laughing out loud the next.

Great story!

This is the second of three audio books in the Lady Justice series I listened to back to back. The novel is about an Alaska 7 night cruise on a Holland America ship. There are two murders that protagonist Walt Williams and his merry band must find and the intended victims they must protect. On shore in Skagway there is also buried gold to be found. The novel is great fun and the narration is perfect.

Alaska Cruise, a REAL Top Chef and... Murders!

Would you listen to Lady Justice and the Cruise Ship Murders again? Why?

This is THE legit question! As expensive as Recorded Audible books are, they should be "relistenable"! Good News! The Lady Justice series including "Cruise Ship Murders" are creative enough and performed well enough to fit the bill!

What did you like best about this story?

It incorporates "real life" references and people. For example, real life Top Chef Marcus Sammuelson actually did a stint on cruise ships. He is mentioned, certain aspects of towns and cities in Alaska. Airline travel nightmares!. Lol

Which character – as performed by George Kuch – was your favorite?

Walt, the main character. But I have to say how much fun George Kuch brings to the whole performance! This is a very good series and George's performance elevates it even higher!

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

You will want to, but my suggestion is to savor it.

Any additional comments?

I step away after each listening to the Lady Justice books so pleased at how entertaining they are. I appreciate the characters, the plot and stories, the humor...

I'm looking forward to more entries in the ongoing series! I have most of the works as Kindle editions and have listened and reviewed all of the Audible versions thus far.

Thanks for the opportunity to listen and offer my opinions on this work!

A review copy was gifted to me at no charge. In return, I am happy to provide an honest review. Also at no charge.

Cruising with Goldrush History

Robert Thornhill's shtick is educating through the craft of storytelling. He doesn't fail in this installment, giving us a well-limned backdrop of Alaska and the Pacific. Thornhill steers away from politics, food and drugs this time, and takes a refreshing and historical detour to the gold rush. Along the way, he divvies out tips and tricks of cruising.

I didn't find the guest characters as interesting as those presented in previous installments. Also the believability factor took a dip. Still, Thornhill does not disappoint, even giving a not so subtle but all appropriate shoutouts to an Alaskan cruise ship captain and Master Chef Marcus Samuelsson. Eating the celebrity chef's signature fare must indeed have been a treat for Thornhill and his wife during their real-life cruise. My mouth was definitely watering under Thornhill's take-no-prisoners descriptions.

George Kuch delivers a personable performance that is so convincing, I am sure Walt Williams is a character in real life. 😊

Some honeymoon!

situational-humor, verbal-humor, vacation, cozy-mystery

Some vacation this turned out to be! After some initial snafus, cops Walt, his partner Ox, and their wives go on an Alaskan cruise and learn many interesting things about cruises. Then there is a double homicide which turns out to be a mistake on the part of the conspirators, and a serious problem back at home. No spoilers here, just go ahead and enjoy!
George Kuch continues to deadpan both the fun and mayhem very delightfully.

I love the his series!

Robert Thornhill is extremely talented in his writing style. George Kuch is the perfect narrator for this series. He adds so much humor to the book with how he delivers it. I so enjoy the clean writing style of this author. He is so witty and I know I can expect some good belly laughs while each book in the series is a standalone listen. I find the imagery to be well done as well. Walt, Maggie, Ox, Judy are my favorite characters in this series. I have listened to several books in this series and think this particular book is one of my very favorites. I was voluntarily provided with this review copy audiobook at no charge by the author, publisher and/or narrator. My review is not a synopsis of the book, but rather my opinion of it. I will most definitely listen to more books by this author and narrator.

5 Star Great..

This is a really accessible story, and I thought I ought to be able to solve the mystery. Goodness knows I read enough of them! And yet, I really didn’t get it. The author doesn’t pull the rug from beneath the reader by introducing a lot of new information at the end, or any of the other unfair devices writers occasionally use in order to make their story’s ending a certain surprise; I had a reasonable shot at it, but I didn’t get it. And I loved the ending!

The characters—the experienced, fatherly, crafty interrogator Ox, and his ambitious partner, Walt, are well developed and personable, but their personal lives don’t distract from the problems at hand. There are a couple of red herrings, but the plot is essentially linear and easy to follow.

All told, this one is a humdinger, and you should read it!

Robert Thornhill does it again!

What did you love best about Lady Justice and the Cruise Ship Murders?

I could relate because I cruised on the Statendam to!

What other book might you compare Lady Justice and the Cruise Ship Murders to and why?

I hate this question.

What does George Kuch bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

His voice carries you away with all of the characters and brings them to life. Listening to him is like visiting with an old friend.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I was right there because I took an Alaskan cruise too.

Lady Justice and the Cruise Ship Murders

Lady Justice and the Cruise Ship Murders
: Robert Thornhill

Robert Thornhill has done it again. In this installment Ox and Judy take a honeymoon cruise and Walt and Maggie tag along. A conspiracy to steal old gold leads to murder. Lots of action with great descriptions of Alaskan sites. I love that the author incorporates real life experiences into his fictitious tales. The rest of the old familiar gang back home phone in so we know they are still around.

I anxiously await the next installment!

The narration was well done. The characters were well portrayed. I will say it once again, George Kuch is perfect narrating these stories!!!
