Publisher's Summary

The best-selling author of Girl Waits with Gun returns with another adventure featuring the fascinating, feisty, and unforgettable Kopp sisters.
After besting (and arresting) a ruthless silk factory owner and his gang of thugs in Girl Waits with Gun, Constance Kopp became one of the nation's first deputy sheriffs. She's proven that she can't be deterred, evaded, or outrun. But when the wiles of a German-speaking con man threaten her position and her hopes for this new life and endanger the honorable Sheriff Heath, Constance may not be able to make things right.
Lady Cop Makes Trouble sets Constance loose on the streets of New York City and New Jersey - tracking down victims, trailing leads, and making friends with girl reporters and lawyers at a hotel for women. Cheering her on, and goading her, are her sisters, Norma and Fleurette - that is, when they aren't training pigeons for the war effort or fanning dreams of a life on the stage.
Based on a true story, Girl Waits with Gun introduced Constance Kopp and her charming and steadfast sisters to an army of enthusiastic listeners. Those listeners will be thrilled by this second installment - also ripped from the headlines - in the romping, wildly listenable life of a woman forging her own path, tackling crime and nefarious criminals along the way.

What the Critics Say

"Narrator Christina Moore continues to shine in the Kopp Sisters series.... Moore captures Constance perfectly--at times vulnerable but more often a strong and determined turn-of-the-century woman who feels she's finally found her calling. In addition to Constance, Moore expertly gives voice to a cast of secondary characters, including men and people with distinctive accents, making each one a believable individual." (AudioFile)

Fantastic Series Continues

Stewart has used her unerring research skills and sharp wit to elevate the standard of historic fiction to an entirely new level. I loved book one in the series, Girl Waits With Gun, and was hoping that book two would be up to the challenge. To me, Lady Cop Makes Trouble is even better than the first book. There is more action, so much detail and such a high level of historic accuracy that reading feels like traveling in a time machine.

The plot is taken from the headlines of the time and in doing so lends a feeling of authenticity to this historic fiction detective book. Stewart opens a window into the early 1900s and beckons the reader to climb through and into another world. Descriptive, detailed, exacting dialogue and excellent character interaction and development all converge to create an enthralling book.

Moore's narration is spot on once again. Her use of pauses, sighs and her precise tone and timing really captures the no nonsense feel of the era and the characters she is voicing. Her skilled delivery makes listening a pleasure.

I really am looking forward to book three--I can't wait to see what happens next. Recommended if you enjoy historic fiction with quirky characters, some funny bits and a slice of life from another era. I loved it.

Fun historical suspense novel!

I rated Girl Waits With Gun 5 stars and the second novel in the series is even better. This second book in the Kopp Sisters series is set in 1915 in New Jersey and New York. 36 year old Constance Kopp has to get a job so she and younger sisters Norma and Fleurette can keep their home and farm. At 6 feet tall and very strong, and handy with a gun, she gets a job as the first deputy sheriff. She inadvertently lets a prisoner escape and then searches New York City for him.

Lady Cop Makes Trouble is a well written and fun suspense novel with wonderfully developed characters. I read the Kindle version of this book before listening to the audio version. The audio version is much better due to outstanding narration.
