Publisher's Summary

The investigation of LaShawn Tompkins's murder seemed straightforward enough. Upon his release from death row, the ex-drug-dealer returned to his old neighborhood where he was gunned down on his mother's doorstep. Just another case of turf warfare. At least that's what it looks like on the surface to Seattle investigator J. P. Beaumont, who's been handed the assignment under the strictest confidence. But as Beau starts digging, the situation becomes more complicated than he'd thought. It appears that LaShawn really had turned over a new leaf at the King Street Mission and his murder was pre-meditated. Someone had targeted the man for death.Meanwhile, Beau's lover and fellow cop, Mel Soames, is given her own hush-hush investigation. A routine check on registered sex offenders has revealed a disturbing pattern: they're dying off at an alarming rate, and not all due to natural causes. Details of the latest death suggest an inside job, but Mel isn't letting this go. Suddenly, Mel's investigation becomes entangled with Beau's, and the two begin to uncover a nightmarish conspiracy that could involve people in high places - including their own top brass.

She never fails!

Once again J. A. Jance has proven to be one of the best writers I've ever read. JP Beaumont is my favorite character of Jance's. I only wish she would write faster, I can't wait for the next book.

Boring!

What disappointed you about Justice Denied?

Very slow moving and really quite a waste of time; when I find myself doing other things instead of listening to the book, I know it's not for me! Half-way through I just gave up and moved along to another book.

Has Justice Denied turned you off from other books in this genre?

No, as I like this genre of book.

What does Ala Nebelthau bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

She's only as good as the words she is given to read. While a good narrater, there wasn't much she could do for the story.

Any additional comments?

While this may be from a best selling author, I really wish I hadn't spent the money to get it. It is very slow moving and really not that interesting.
