Publisher's Summary

Chicago video producer Ellie Foreman has been absent from thriller author Libby Fischer Hellmann's repertoire for almost a decade. Now, in Jump Cut, she's back...and is soon to find herself entangled in a web of espionage, murder, and suspicion that threatens to destroy what she holds most dear. Hired to produce a candy-floss profile of Chicago-based aviation giant Delcroft, Ellie is dismayed when company VP Charlotte Hollander trashes the production and cancels the project.
Ellie believes Hollander was spooked by shots of a specific man in the video footage. But when Ellie arranges to meet the man to find out why, he is killed by a subway train before they can talk. In the confusion, she finds a seemingly abandoned pack of cigarettes with a flash drive inside that belonged to the now-dead man. Ellie gets the drive's contents decrypted, but before long discovers she's under surveillance. Suspecting Delcroft and the ambitious Hollander are behind it, she's unconvinced when Hollander tells her the dead man was a Chinese spy.
Ellie and her boyfriend, Luke, try to find answers, but they don't realize how far they have ventured into the dangerous echelons of hidden power. When Ellie's daughter is kidnapped and Charlotte Hollander disappears, it becomes terrifyingly clear that Ellie is in way over her head, and more lives are on the line - including her own.

Mystery Thriller Packs a Punch !

Would you consider the audio edition of Jump Cut to be better than the print version?

I always prefer audio books so that I can hear the different character's personality come out through the voice artist's amazing talents. I listen while walking or driving and it is very fulfilling to have all of the characters come along with me.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Of course Ellie Foreman, the main character is my favorite. She has an extreme passion for the truth and goes to extremes to get to the bottom of the mystery. She is such a "real" person and I could really relate to her.

What about Karyn O'Bryant’s performance did you like?

Karen O'Bryant's voice was immensely pleasing and easy to listen to. She kept me so engaged in the story that I could barely stop listening. I went for a walk and when I got back home I kept my headphones on while cooking dinner !

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I was terrified for Ellie in the most intense parts of this book. I don't want to spoil this book for those who haven't read it or listened to it. As a mother, I was totally praying for her as I heard this story.

Any additional comments?

I was given this audio book in exchange for a review. I am so glad I received this book. It was a nice long story and now I am eager to hear more stories about the amazing Ellie Foreman !!

Ellie Forman Mysteries

This is the first book by Libby Hellmann I have read. Ellie Forman is a video producer who has just finished a set of videos promoting Delcroft Industries. Everything appears to be going fine during Ellie's presentation, until Delcroft VP Charlotte Hollander notices Gregory Park. She becomes very angry and tells Ellie her work is quite unprofessional and cancels the project.

Wanting to know why she was fired, Ellie arranges to meet Park, but he falls, or is pushed in front of the subway train and is killed. Ellie finds a flash drive hidden in a cigarette pack near by the train car where Park died.

It does nott take long for Ellie to realize she has stepped into something far more dangerous than she could imagine.

If you like drones, spies, double agents and lots of twists, than you will enjoy Jump Cut.
