Publisher's summary

In this suspenseful audiobook from the number-one New York Times best-selling author Mary Higgins Clark, a Manhattan ER doctor is brazenly murdered in front of his young son in a city playground. Five years later, his killer is still at large.

Meanwhile his widow, Laurie Moran, is now an award-winning TV producer. Still haunted by her husband's murder, she has been raising their son alone. Laurie and her TV crew have just received the green light to produce a new cold-case series. Revisiting unsolved crimes one at a time, she and her TV crew will gather a victim's friends and family, who have lived under suspicion of guilt for many years. By getting paid to reenact the crime on TV, each will have the chance to clear their name unless, of course, someone is guilty. The first case centers on the murder of a wealthy Westchester matron, who was killed overnight while her college-aged daughter and her three best friends were having a sleepover following their celebratory graduation party. Now grown, the four women reunite to re-create the scene of the crime.

From the reigning Queen of Suspense comes a fascinating mystery that once again demonstrates a true mastery of the craft that has made her books international bestsellers. Fast-paced, exciting, and expertly plotted, I've Got You Under My Skin is Mary Higgins Clark at her best.

Enjoyable to listen to

Overall I enjoyed the book, even though the characters voices of Alison and Lorie were a little too whining for my taste. But overall, it was good.

Paimful to listen to!

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

Less charcter development. Over and over

What could Mary Higgins Clark have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

Find another style, getting to be cookie cutter books!

What about Jan Maxwell’s performance did you like?

Outstanding. She was the only reason I finished the book.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

None

Any additional comments?

Usually a MHC fan, but not this one...

What would have made I've Got You Under My Skin better?

Better plot. This was the worst storyline ever.

Has I've Got You Under My Skin turned you off from other books in this genre?

No.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

Voice was ok, somewhat boring to listen to. Often put me to sleep, but I'm not sure if that was due to her voice or the boring plot.

Any additional comments?

I look forward to all of Mary Higgins Clark's books. This one was the first one I really didn't enjoy. The storyline was awful and predictable. Most of the characters were annoying. Very disappointing.

Not One Of Her Best!!

Would you ever listen to anything by Mary Higgins Clark again?

Sure

What does Jan Maxwell bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

She's an excellent narrator.

Could you see I've Got You Under My Skin being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

No chance.

Any additional comments?

I've listened to and read by eye quite a few of MH Clarks work. The thing I always like best about her novels is that they all take place in Manhattan (all the ones I've read, that is). I like the feel of her stories and they make me feel like I"m in Manhattan too. It's very light entertainment. However, I did not think this was up to her usual quality. It was so transparent that I found myself skipping. I read the entire book, but quite rapidly and with a lot of skipping.

Good Story/Not a Great Reader

You were kept guessing until the end of the book who committed the crimes. Lots of interesting characters, The reader often used a little person's voice. You couldn't have told the difference between the eight year old and the eighteen year old by her voice. She would often slip into a child's voice when the character was an adult. Her voice is pleasant but I don't like "baby talk" unless it's appropriate.

Great

Great mystery. Good characters good plot. Best there is no unnecessary sex scenes .I'm so tired of all the sexual stuff that doesn't do anything for the story. Thank you author.

Dislike voice of person narrating.

Would you try another book from Mary Higgins Clark and/or Jan Maxwell?

Yes, I love Mary Higgins Clark books! I just can't stand to listen to the narrator's voice so I will be buying the book to read myself.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Jan Maxwell?

Anyone else. I am not really familiar with other narrators as this is my first audio book.
