Publisher's summary

Hired killer Tanner escapes from a Mexican prison and goes in search of revenge against the man who was to be his latest target.

Mobster Albert Rossetti thought he was safe after he framed Tanner for drug possession and had him locked away inside a Mexican prison - but Tanner broke out.

Rossetti's made peace with the man who hired Tanner to kill him, and the contract was cancelled, but that means nothing to Tanner, who lives by his own rules.

Tanner is coming for Rossetti, despite the man's hit squad, or the determined and troubled female FBI agent chasing him.

Tanner is coming, Tanner is deadly, and Tanner never fails.

Seriously entertaining series with a Stoic hero

I love the premise of this series. Tanner is a murder-for-hire guy who doesn't take domestic jobs. He's one of a string of Tanners who date back to the 1920s. There are recurring characters in the rest of the series who first appear in this book: Sara Blake - the FBI Special Agent who is out for Tanner's blood, Earl & Merle Carter - the Dumb and Dumber brothers who get caught up in Tanner's world, Jake Garner - the handsome FBI Special Agent, Johnny Rosetti - the nephew of Albert Rossetti who is Underboss of the Giacconi crime family, etc.

The books run about 4 - 5 hours long, which feels just right. The series is addicting. I'm already on book 07 of the 11 books in the series available on audible. I hope audible gets the recently released twelfth book soon.

Daniel Dorse as narrator does a fine job with the different accents of the many characters.

Remington Kane is a pseudonym of writer Donald Wells. He has also written the "Taken!" series as Remington Kane.

A mediocre book, completely ruined by a terrible narrator!

The narrator has an absolutely flat affect & voice tone. The amplified sounds on his inhalation’s & exhalations is the predominant aural experience. I have an Audible Library of about 1250 books, plus the 2-4 I listen to that are from our community library, & I believe I have written less than 10 reviews, but I feel obligated to encourage you to pass on this book!

Wow! Action and more action fills this story.
I Couldn't put this book down! Rowdy and well planned plot.

Nope

I can't listen to this guy's voice. Wasn't worth the extra for the audible narration. That part is awful. I'll give it a whirl with reading it myself.

Simple Story

This is an easy simple story. No complex plots, minimalist in detail and easy to follow with no surprises. Almost like a TV drama predictable and minimalist to tell a story in an hour only in this case 5 hours. For such an approach it is well done, the characters are developed enough. This is a fast book with constant action. The narrator leaves something to be desired. He does a good job with voices and doesn't get in the way of the story, the problem is how deep his narration voice is. I listen to books on my daily commute in the car. I played with the base, treble, every button I could find but it was still hard to hear the words at times. I don't know if it was the recording quality or the narration voice, I suspect the narration voice though. It was frustrating at times.
